Hello All,
I'm new to the forum and just wanted to say hello! I just inherited a S&W model 19-5 from my grandfather, thought it would be a good idea to join this forum now that I'm part of the S&W family. Look forward to talking and learning more about S&W and revolvers.

Firstly, sorry for the loss of your grandfather.

Secondly, that's a very nice and desirable revolver--your grandfather had good taste!

Lots of folks around here like that particular model. Go out and shoot it some--38 Special rounds will be pleasant and fun to shoot. If you want to shoot .357 Mag. rounds, the general consensus is to avoid the loadings with light bullets and stick with the heavier loadings like 158 gr.--the light ones are tougher on the gun.

Enjoy and give us a range report when you take her out!

Welcome to the forum! :)

Beautiful 19 you have there. Doesn't get any better than that in a S&W revolver. Regards 18DAI

Welcome...
I am a newbie here as well...and have been treated kindly, with respect, and showered with good advice.

The 19 is high on my list of desirables...

Welcome to the Forum, M-1. You'll like it here. I own a twin to your 19-5 and just love it. Great snubby.

Welcome to the forum, the people on this site are walking smith and wesson encyclopedias of knowledge, and very friendly too. I love my model 19-2 for its balance and smooth operation, a word of caution, visiting this site will MAKE you buy more s$w revolvers!

Thanks for sharing. Your Grandfather had great taste in firearms. Treasure it as the family heirloom that it is. But shoot it, that's what it was made for and what your Grandpa purchased it.

This is my first handgun/revolver I have owned I'm really excited to shoot it. I already want another one and only had this one for a few days now.

I just picked up a 19-5 2.5" at the Tulsa gun show a couple of weeks ago. No red ramp. What a beauty.
