Guten Morgen, Schmartie...Willkommen im Forum! You have a very nice nickel Model 27-2, manufactured in 1977. It appears to be in very good condition, and should be an excellent and accurate shooter. The mahogany presentation case looks original, although the inserts have been replaced. It would have looked like the case for my 6" blued 27-2 (N479553) shown here, also from 1977-1978. As Nightowl stated, most 6" Model 27s had Patridge front sights instead of ramp sights like yours. Not sure if that was a special order, or if nickel versions came with Baughman front sights. Gluckwunsch, und geniessen!😀

Very nice. My M27-2 SN N4479xx shipped Feb 22, 1978, so yours is most likely in the last 3 months of 1977. I'm used to seeing the Patridge front sight on mine, that one is....different. Maybe it is because of the nickel finish, maybe just ordered that way. At any rate, you have the Cadillac of S&W, be proud of it.

Congrats! I don't know why it wasn't your first choice, but you should be proud. Nothing like a N frame, especially nickel in mint condition.

My 27-2 is a nickel 5" original box and papers serial # N440670. I wasn't looking for a 5" it just became available.Would have bought it if it was a 4" or a 6"

It's gorgeous. 6 inch for N frame is better than 4 inch. I have 28-2 in 4 inch, looks shorter than it is. I still love my 28-2 tho.
