Hello,
I have read on these forums about members use of ren wax on their S&W's. Although I was a little skeptical, but more curious if it actually works. Prior, I had never heard of this product, or even knew that you could wax your firearm.
I must say after trying it, I can't believe the difference it makes to the finish. The wax seems to bring a very deep blue sheen to the blue. I'm now a true believer, and will slowly work on my other firearms.
This is my first attempt at waxing/polishing. This sheen on my 29-2 is after one coat. This revolver is a well used and loved "shooter". There are several thousand rounds through it. I wish I had taken a before pic, but if this is the result after 1 coat I'm completely sold on this stuff. For any one else who was a skeptic, this is the result.

Nice. Where can you get that stuff?

Internet sales or maybe some hardware stores that focus on woodwork, like Teak and Black Walnut, etc. I have one local store that carries it. I like it because you can handle the revolver/Auto without putting so many fingerprints on it.

Looks good. I doubt that multiple coats will improve it though. Maybe someone else will let us both know.
f.t.

It will look pretty much the same no matter how many coats you have on it. I love Renaissance wax. I'm so used to the look of my revolvers with the wax that I don't think I can ever go back.

I bought the little 65ml jar off of eBay from a seller in England. It was under $20 Canadian shipped. I used a very very small amount, a little goes a long way. The jar will last me several years. I used it on the grips as well and it brought back the shine. Very impressive stuff.

Midway USA carries the Renaissance wax. I am not sure if mutiple coats help or not, but I usualy put a couple of coats on. A great thing about this wax is, when you do have a fingerprint on the gun after waxing, they wipe right off...Ray

With 8 in of new snow I found time today to add some more ren-wax a few revolvers. As you live in the great white north you will also be able to enjoy revolvers in the winter with the wax.

I learned about it here on this site. Great wax. Also really helps with fingerprints. It seems expensive but when such a little goes so far it is not that bad.

Yes, you can put it on the stocks, Case knives, Bark River knives, etc, etc. it's great stuff! I bought the large can on eBay for $27 shipped, best price I found. The can says multiple coats bring out more shine. I'm not sure about that but I do enjoy sitting in front of the TV and wiping down one or two of my revolvers with this stuff each night. At this rate it's not going to last too long" :)

The instructions say to use a soft cloth to apply, but I've found that my bare finger is an easier way to apply it.
