Thought I would share a picture of the 1974 Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman that I scored today. It is unfired, as new in the box with all the goodies. Paid $550.00 for it. How do you think I did ? Now, if I can only restrain myself from shooting it : )- .........

Great Deal!

You did WELL! Outstanding get! I have a NOS '74 6" just like yours but mine came with Magna's. By the way, it's one of the few Queens that I have.

Check out my photo albums if you want to see it. Very Nice!

That is very nice. I think you got it at such a good price, you can afford to shoot it a little bit!

Bob, Your HP looks SWEET !! I said mine had all the goodies but, it is missing the cleaning kity. Need to find one of those. I didnt even think of it until I saw the pictures of yours.

I agree, It needs to be shot. I will eventually but, for now, I am going to justs admire it in its virgin state.

You stole it! I will offer you another $25 to take it off you hands so your conscience will will be clear.:)

Beautiful gun at a great price. There is something about the 28 that makes you want more. The matte finish with the flat finish on the top strap and trigger guard is just amazing. I just purchased a 28-2 4" last week and can't hardly put it down. Enjoy showing it off.

Nice score.

Just shot two of my 28-2's today. They're awesome shooters.

Hearsedriver, beautiful gun! I bought a 28-2, on Christmas Day, for $450 on GB. The pics looked O.K. but am sure it is not as nice as yours! No box with mine either. Mine currently has goodyears on it. Looking already! YOU did GREAT, in my book! Bob

Very nice! I picked up a NIB 4" a couple of months ago and have yet to shoot it. My 6" M28 is one of my favorite shooters so I'm taking the 4" on my next trip to the range.

Thnaks for all of the kind words. I thought I paid a fair price for it even though it is the most I have ever paid for a S&W revolver. When I compared it to the price of some of the brand new SW revolvers, it seemed like a no-brainer plus, it just felt damn good in my hands. I'll take a better picture of it tommorrow in the daylight. Thanks!

By the way. Do you think I should dissassemble, clean, and lubricate it even if I dont shoot it? I feel certain that it has never been taken apart. I am afraid the grease may be hard and the oil dried out by now.

You picked up a real nice revolver. The stocks are a good match. Today I saw two 28-2s NIB in a Gun Store marked $795.00 each. I think that's a little steep.

You did quite well.

You did very well. I'd love finding a deal like that! I'll get a lesser grade HP someday I'm sure. Awaiting the glamour shots tomorrow.

I'd leave the sideplate screws alone unless:

A) The action feels gunked up when dry firing or cycling the cylinder.

B) You are good removing the plate without messing up the screws or scratching the plate when trying to remove it.

I'd not mess with it if it was mine.
