I just got back from the gun shop and brought my M&P9c a little brother. This is my only revolver. I had a Ruger LCR but traded it for a Glock. I liked the LCR but thought I wanted the Glock more. The snubby revolver itch would not go away. I like the Glock and learned my lesson about selling or trading guns. Keep them and buy another or you'll regret it. So for six months I decided I wanted a 442 or 637; since I tried the LCR I may as well try something different. Never considered the 438 because the pictures made it look ugly. So every thing lined up for me, Christmas bonus and new lower prices. So today I went to the store and pointed at the black revolver that I thought was the 442 and said I want that 442. He put it on the counter and said it's not the 442. I was confused until he pointed out the hammer. I never even noticed. (I just saw it through the case). Then he gave me the 442 to compare the 2. They both looked great, but now I was sold on the 438, and brought it home. So I got my black 442 with my 637 hammer combined in my 438. Don't you like long gun story's. I'm thinking wadcutters, what's your opinion on ccw ammo? I used Hornady hollow points with the LCR, but have read some reviews that say full wadcutters are good.

I like any gun story as long as it has a happy ending. I had a model 38 from the early 1980s. I loved it until the frame cracked under the forcing cone. It was replaced with a 638 which was fine also, but I still liked the blued version better. I toyed with the idea of a 438 recently, but opted against it because i have a 342 that i carry already. Congrats on it, the looks of the humpbacks sometimes have to grow on you.

I am very happy with my 438 that I purchased last November from a gun show in Kokomo, Indiana. I went to the show believing that I wanted a 638 but the 438 jumped out at me and won my heart. I purchased snap caps and experimented with dry firing, have been to the range multiple times cleaning it thoroughly after each session, and am totally satisfied with my new acquisition. I am learning that practice makes a big difference in performance so practice every chance you get and enjoy the addition to your family.

I did the exact same thing. Me all confident:"I'll take that 442" Clerk: "Sir, that's not a 442". ME: "No, that one on the top shelf in black" ........ Short of it is I got me a new 438 with a killer single action pull. Love it.

For Ammo I went with the Speer 135-grain GDHP +P. It got a nice write up here CLICK HERE

Thanks, DJ
