My new 686-5 plus

Hello everyone,
I just bought my first revolver. A smith and wesson 686-5 plus. Serial number CERXXXX. I was wondering if anyone can give me any info on this gun.

I have a 686-5 with 2.5 inch barrel. The gun was the last 686 before they added the "lock". Firing pin is on the frame, MIM parts. Here's mine:

Hi, Welcome to the addiction of the revolver. You revolver was made in 2000. It has what is called MIM parts. MIM stands for (Metal Injected Molding) The hammer,cylinder release and trigger are all made with the MIM process. Your gun was the first series to use the MIM parts. It is not a bad thing. a word of advise go on E-Bay and get you some HKS speed loaders. They will make loading a breeze.
Also find you a good holster to use.

Note about HKS 7 shot speed loaders. they have very thin walls, so don't drop them on concrete floors. they will crack in between cyls. I know I have broken quite a few.

Thanks for all the info. I'll post some more pictures when she actually arrives. hopefull by the begining of next week. ohh yeah it comes with 4 speed loaders.
