My new Phoenix Drake. Will this be the most accurate semi auto pistol?

<Yawn> Yet another overpriced, overweight, oversized 9mm of all the things nobody needed - ever.

Sounds like you know nothing of the competitive pistol market. It’s huge business.

Not saying everyone should be out buying $5000+ pistols, but there’s a definitive market for them.

I picked up my new Drake last week.

These pistols are really very, very nice. I have not shot it yet.

I am glad you found something that you really like and that you are excited about.

Is there anything at this point in your review that you wish was different--be it fit, form, function, et cetera? Objectively, are there any areas that you wish they paid more attention to or otherwise?

Thanks for sharing.

Giving a review without shooting a pistol is hard to do. I have not shot this pistol yet and currently I have one foot in a walking boot and there is a blizzard outside so I do not know when I will get to shoot it.

The main reason I bought it was because of the longer barrel length and the “Briley Type” spherical bushing which works so well on my S&W 3566’s and 952’s. I already have a Redback.

This pistol was sold as a blem and has on faint tool mark back by the beavertail which is barely noticeable but came at a large discount so it does not bother me. Otherwise the fit and finish is top notch. The slide moves on the frame like it is on ball bearings. There is something about full length inside rails that seem to really give a smooth action to auto loading pistols.

I like the straight trigger and after a short take up it breaks at 2 lbs. – 12 oz on my Lyman scale. It has no creep and breaks cleanly. This is very close to what my Redback does. It is a CZ Clone and the grip seem to fit my hand like a glove and points naturally for me.

It has a LPA rear site and a patridge front sight. Very good target sights which I prefer. I also bought a rear optic plate which I might use. The slide comes optic ready.

I weighed the pistol with an empty magazine on a very accurate electronic scale I have and it came in at 51.9 oz. If I could change one thing, it would be to cut down the weight some. They have machined an opening in the top of the slide but there are lots of areas where the frame and slide could be slimmed down some. I knew the weight going in so it is not a big deal for me.
