I just picked this up from my FFL a few hours ago. I haven't cleaned it up - still with the factory oil.

I bought it mainly because it has the clean slide - I like the clean utilitarian look. I like it!

It has a nice trigger!

I have a full length guide rod, and a stainless main spring housing. I'm debating changing out the polymer trigger...

Any recommendations on night sights?

There's a blued version with no roll marks and no sights.

They've been selling for at least a year if not longer

What's the point in buying a Colt if it doesn't have the rollmarks identifying it as such? Did it cost substantially less since you didn't pay for the brand name? ;)

Just kidding, congratulations! It looks swell.

You wanted a "Clean Slide" ... well ... you got a clean slide alright !

No pesky sights to clutter it up ... clean as it gets .

Sights , what sights ...we don't need no stinking sights !

By the way ... Are you bragging or complaining ?
Gary

I have owned enough Colt 1911's to say based on appearance alone, it is OEM.

I have not heard of this variant, but there used to be a school of thought that as a combat pistol it didn't need sights and was point/shoot. IIRC, around 2009-2011 they made one specifically without sights and a 'trench' sight.

I'm not complaining about anything, I got exactly what I wanted! I saw one and I liked the clean slide, and that I could put whatever sights I want. Plus it's a Series 70 and it has a National Match barrel. I'm very happy with my purchase!

This is the actual model number of what I have "01911C SSZ".

BTW, Colt had an M4 that was sold without handguards, buttstock, trigger guard, magazine, or rear sight. I'm guessing it's meant for the customizers who want a Colt foundation to modify without having to spend money on the stuff that's going to be tossed anyway.

I think this series of Colt 1911s is basically the same thing. As I said earlier, I'm getting a full length guide rod, stainless mainspring housing, sights and I'll be done.

I like it. But I would seriously call sharkcoast tactical in Florida and ask about having it laser engraved. I am pretty sure they could do it. They can put whatever you want on that slide. They send their stuff out to distributors to sell all over the country. I have a machine engraved S7W 1911. Everyone that sees it just drools over it. It also shoots very well. Just my thoughts. In any event, that is a nice gun.

A lot of people buy these as "base" guns for doing a nice custom build.

Id just add some tritiums and keep it as is, as far as slide.

I've got a stainless series 80 Colt with the arched mainspring housing.Wanna swap mainspring housings??? I prefer the flat housing like the one on your gun. Yours looks stainless to me-is it??
