I went to Shoot Straight(WPB) to shoot my new Cajunized CZ P-09 and came home with this 19-3 for $279.00.

Can anyone tell me the date of manufacture? Serial# 4K92xxx

Ever since I purchased from Buds my Model 10 that was a police trade-in from Austrailia I have been looking for an inexpensive .357. I think I really lucked out with this one.
I was able to shoot it after I purchased it, this is truly a great shooter!

I'd put on a pair of Magnas myself. To me, target grips just don't look right on a 4" barrel revolver. For shooting, the rubber grips on it are just fine.

Here is a picture of the other side with grips off of my Model 17.

And the same side as above.
I ordered these to replace the cheesy rubber ones that came with the gun.

Good lord! I've seen them priced (very optimistically) over $800 round here! That price would be good for a scratched up model 10. You are a thief my friend, great catch.

Unbelievable. You paid about half the going rate.

I found it on a table with police trade-in Model 15s. These were just being put on the table for selling. The list for the Model 15 was $399.00 and the Model 19 was $499.00. When I asked if they could do better, he said the guns on the table were going to sell for $279.00...so I purchased it immediately!

So if anyone lives in the area of West Palm Beach they have the Model 15 for $279.00, but not nearly in as great condition as my Model 19.

If this is your first "Combat Magnum" a word to the wise is stick to 38 special for punching holes in paper and when using 357 Magnum ammo stick to 158 grain bullets ,
One of the initial inspections of any Model 19 (especially X PD guns) is to check the forcing cone at the 6 O clock position for any signs of cracking from extended use of lighter 125 grain loads.

On a side note while those new wood grip copies are an improvement that old girl deserves a nice set of original S&W grips.

Thanks.
This was not an X PD gun,it was on the table with the trade- ins. Maybe a mistake on their part? I did check it over before purchasing it and found no cracks. You are right, I will be using mostly .38 Special.
What are the original grips?

Mr. Jones ya done good on that one. From the photos it looks like that guy went to work with someone daily. I really like "old working" revolvers. The ones that were used the way the factory intended them to be used.
