I am the proud owner of this new 9mm pistol.

hmmm, can you use the word collector with this? If it is, then I shouldn't return it to S&W? I have the fedex tag from them right now.

Yes, I got it as part of a trade, sight unseen. I made out. Previous owner shot about 500 rounds with no issues.

S&W told me that there was a batch that went out with either a 40VE slide or just mismarked.

I thought that a real 40VE slide was too big to fit a 9mm slide?

So should I send this back to S&W and have them replace the slide? Or hang on to it because it's an error?

As long as there are no issues with it, as far as it working correctly and ejecting casings out, why not keep it. Makes for a good conversation and maybe down the road it'll be worth more. Just a thought...

I kinda want to keep this because of the error, but is there a way to determine if I have a 9mm slide or a .40 slide. I know it has to do with the breach face.

It's a 40 slide. Look at the gap in the breech lock. Here's my 9VE

I'd get the slide replaced because the barrel can wobble and damage the cam.

OK..Thanks...I guess it's going back and while I'm at it, get that "gritty" trigger fixed too. :)

Good observation Halfstack, its very obvious that the barrel doesn't sit as flush into the frame as it should on his.

its not a 40 slide the breech would be bigger as would the cut in the slide where hood locks up
barrel port would be bigger as well. 9mm barrel has slimmer width than the 40sw

....the correct slide is much tighter suggesting the barrel port IS too big for the 9MM barrel.

I don't have the the measurements. they are close enough for the 40VE slide to work on the 9VE barrel/frame. the 9VE slide on a 40VE should NOT work.

anyone out there with one of each willing to try?
