I've been waiting, not very patiently I might add, for about 10 excruciating days to get my hands on this. I wanted my first nickel gun to be special - 99% plus in my favorite caliber, 357 mag. This gun meets ALL expectations and then some. Vintage 1978, 3 T's, and in the wood presentation case. All are in perfect condition, factory test fired and that's it.

I must say that this is, without doubt, the finest piece of "equipment" that I've ever seen, I could not be happier. Some shots of the new addition .....

Yep, it is a beauty all right! You got a fine weapon right there and I love nickel 27s myself. My first 27 I bought was one just about like yours back in 1974 for $200. The 5" does have a nice balance too.

BTW, I still have my original 5" 27-2. This is how it looks 43 years later. The stocks on it are cocobolo wood Ahrends, as I find the S&W target grips are a bit too big for my hand. And the Magna grips that came on mine are a bit on the small side for me.

Absolutely a beauty,awesome!

With all the squawking about S&W poor quality bandied about these days, it is always a bit ironic to me that I well remember the Bangor-Punta era when many of the same sort of complaints were heard about their products Now, B-P guns seem to have achieved the same vaunted status as the guns of earlier days...

LOVE the 5" M27!

Kalamazoo, that is a sweet M27. I have owned two. About 10 years ago, like you, I decided I HAD to have a M27, and bought a nickle 6" 27-2 in the prezo case. It turned out to have a crappy trigger and wouldn't shott groups under 2"-3" at 25 yards so I sent it to my 'smith in Arizona to have that trigger fixed. It still would never shoot for beans, so I sold it and found a 5" blue 27-2 to replace it at a gun show about 6 months later. The 5", to me, is the perfect gun, and this one shoots GREAT. Factory trigger is excellent too. I have nickle M29's and M57's and love them all my others, and find the finish to be remarkably durable, in spite of what you hear. My M29 I carried in a shoulder rig in Alaska for 3 weeks, killed dozens of deer with her in upstate NY, and it still looks new! BTW, you BETTER plan on shooting that gun. Don't worry about decreasing it's value by a few bucks, there will always be a market for a 5" M27
