Today I picked up a 1954 Pre 27, blue, with a 6" barrel and Class A engraving by Harry Jarvis.

The original box is in great shape and I got the original cleaning items and tools as well.

I'm in S&W heaven

That is one of the most gorgeous revolvers I have ever seen.
If it were mine I think I would replace the orange on the front sight
with a gold bead.

An outstanding revolver, beautifully engraved and fantastic stocks. One to be proud of there!

Thanks for sharing. That is one of the best looking 357s I have looked upon. I love the style of the engraving and those rosewood stocks. you did great with this one.

Whew! That is a beautiful gun! I love the pre 27's and the 27's. My favorite caliber in a revolver.

Did the factory engravers get their choice of where (and font size) the S&W logo would be placed? Maybe to facilitate or enhance their design?

Reason I ask is my "unscratched" pre-27 Letters as shipping October 16, 1952 and the S&W logo is on the other frame side than the OP's really classy 1954 gun. Just wondering as I don't see any engineering changes that took place in those 2 years.

OP: Does the gun appear to have been fired after factory? It just looks too nice to make a range visit....kinda like asking the Prom Queen to go mud-bogging after the dance.
