As some of you know, my five year old Son is in an oratorical contest through the communication arts magnet school that he attends. I had posted a thread here asking for help finding a suitable poem and then I was inspired to write one just for him, about him (on PG 4 of this thread).
I was concerned that I might have held him back with my amateur verse... but he made my words come alive and has earned the right to move on to the next level by winning this round. I was amazed when he asked me to explain to him EXACTLY what every line meant. The fact that he knew that the poem was heartfelt words about him from his Dad really came through in his delivery. I'm so proud of my little guy.
