Wind 20-30 mph, temperature 101°F, humidity 2% (two%). Also, every time I blink i can hear this sort of scratchy noise.

I hope somebody does not get careless with a naked flame because this is just perfect wildfire weather.

I'd say "But it's a dry heat", but you'd probably put out a contract on me.

I understand how you feel. If God ever decides to give the earth a spritz of Nasonex, He'll insert the nozzle in this part of the Ohio Valley.

My eyes feel (and look, unfortunately) like two raw oysters on a hot cinder block.

Yeah this dry heat keeps my eyes red and dry. Never had sinus problems till I moved to AZ about 18-19 years ago, go figure. I thought this was the place to go to get away from all that sort of problem. But I found out pretty quick that the ust out here will give you fits, not to mention that every body moves out here and brings thir plants from home with them and that doesn't help much either.

But I still like it here in the desert and the heat is something you learn to put up with. It's been 110+ now for the last 8 or 9 days and I'm not sure about tomorrow.

Just get up early and do the outdoor stuff before it gets too hot and enjoy the invention of air conditioning the rest of the day.:)

Hi Roadtrash, last Saturday, we in Vegas actually topped Phoenix in temperature! Why do I feel proud, like I've accomplished something meaningful?
That fine dust was especially bad during the '11/'12 winter, causing an allergic condition that mimicked a bronchial infection. The MD referred to it as 'alien dust,' since it blows down from Area 51 in the north. I was ill for a month, not good since I suffer from emphysema and live in terror of lung infections. Funny, I was never afraid to ride a NYC subway at 2AM. Go figure!

I live on Claritin, Fluticasone and grit.

Ocular migraines - check.

It's a pisser, but it's the cost of being here and the alternative sucks.

Like my Mom says, there's always someone worse off, realize that and it helps.

I never had allergies till I moved to Virginia when I was in my 40's. Tried everything, nothing worked. My Mom has bad sinus problems, and her Doctor recommended a 'sinus flush' utilizing distilled water and a product called Alkolol. Been around 100+ years, all natural...designed to clean and moisten the nasal canal and sinuses. She swore by it...I started using it, and I have to agree it certainly helps. Takes some time to fully work (weeks), not an overnight remedy, although you'll feel an immediate difference with your first use. I use it seasonally, and then not every day. Some pharmacies carry it, so don't, but will order it for you. You do have to blow/purge the solution up one nostril till it starts flowing out the other side, repeat for the other side. Easy, no as bad as it sounds. You buy a plastic bottle or Neti Pot for this as well (pharmacy), and the kit contains some small powder packets you use as well. Cheap, effective, can't hurt...you don't feel drugged, and certainly helps in my case, especially with headaches.

I've had mixed results with sinus flushing. Sometimes it really helps, but other times I got the impression it just shoved whatever was irritating me further back into the works. YMMV I suppose.

carry around a little container of saline mist and use it whenever you feel dry. it will work wonders. I do a sinus rinse before bed every night and that helps a bunch with breathing when sleeping.

Sounds exactly like me... except it's Allegra, Fluticasone and a lot of saline nasal spray. I had much less of an issue when I lived in Pacifica, probably due to the fog and being near the ocean.

Things became much worse for me after I moved across the bay to East Contra Costa County... I don't know if it's the hotter climate, the close proximity to all of farms, or both.

Interesting to see in this thread just how common having sinus problems seems to be.

I never had sinus issues until last year then I got nailed with five or six colds in a few months and a bout of bronchitis that laid me out flat. I have been sick for the last couple of days with something a lot stronger than a cold. It's been rainy then sunny then rainy and then cold and warm plus at work the A/C is selective on where it wants to work. Where I am its 65 because of all the computers and the rest is 80. Think I may have bronchitis again because its kicking my butt. Ever since I got hurt and have had the last couple surgeries getting sick seems to be a heck of a lot easier. I used to be able to fight off a cold in a day or two.

For relief of dry sinuses try a product called Ponaris (google it) really helps with inflamation. Supposedly NASA uses it. Not a drug.

For dry sinus and allergies I use NeilMed Sinuflo.... Have not had an infection in years.

I never had allergies except for when I would go out of state during hunting season. Then we moved to NorCal from SoCal. Noticeable increase in "hay fever" but not too bad. Both the wife and I.

Then I was transferred to eastern Washington. Killer! After the second or third year, I would have the sneezes and killer sinus headaches for about a week each Spring. Wife: about died. Heavy antibiotics after nasal infections for two years. Had her sinuses (sinusi?) drilled out and anti-biotics for another two years. Now she's on allergy shots. Will take a year for the full program=1 shot a week, then one a month.
