Some would ask is reloading worth it....I say yes. I'm almost ready for winter shooting season....if I could just get enough primers to fill the rest of these ammo cans. :D

I started reloading in 1972, and started casting bullets in 1973. Some shops stocked bulk powder, which they sold by the pound for about $3.00. Primers were about $6 per thousand. Using home-cast bullets I produced .38 Special, 9mm, and .45 ACP for about the same cost as paying retail for .22 LR ammo.

My competition revolver has been fired at least 50,000 rounds, but has never had a round of factory ammunition fired through it.

Even at today's prices for primers and powder, reloading still makes sense for the person who wants to shoot regularly without breaking the family budget.

Reloading is my winter hobby. In the Texas summer, it's way to hot to sit in the garage and reload. I cook up about 2000 rounds of various calibers. I love it.

reloading

I have been reloading since about 1964. But more active at it in the past few years since retiring. I cant cast my own anymore due to lung problems but even buying cast bullets I'm making a box of 357mag. for about $6.85 .
That is about 1/3rd of the price of factory loads. As the old saying goes, "you don't save money but you get to shoot a lot more"

i totally agree...and its just plain fun:D

???? what powder should I use

I'm looking at starting to reload. I have a 686 and want to load 38 and 357 mag rounds for target shooting. I have started to collect information and hardware to reload and ran into a question I thought would be good to get several opinions on. I have decided on a swc bullet #358429 170 gr. is there a powder that will work for both 38 and 357 rounds?
