My Shield is a paper weight - help needed

I decided early on that a carry pistol should be inexpensive, as once seized for whatever reason, it can be a very long time before you see it again, if ever (depends on your state law).

I would not want to carry an unreliable weapon, but neither a $1k+ one.

And yes, when the first symptoms of a dead spring showed up, Kimber did send me a free one and walk me through a procedure to change them out. I suspect if I called I could talk them out of another one, but I've burned through several over the years.

LOL!!!!

Well, just checked and a WC music wire recoil spring for my 1911 is only $6.95....about the price of a QP w/cheese meal. ;)

Maybe this is why the flat wire springs are so common, they last a lot longer.

Before I sat around waiting for S & W to send a replacement I would just buy the one mentioned in post #2 and use the one S & W sent as a spare.

The part mentioned in post #2 is not an RSA. It's just a SS replacement for the plastic part of the OEM part. You have to install your factory spring on it.
