What do you all know about Limp Wristing a Semi Auto that causes jamming? I'm told this is possibly the problem I had the other day. First time it's happend. Your thoughts...

Its pretty normal with Autos. I have tried with my Sigma and haven't been able to do it.

This was my second trip to this particular range. I noticed they want your target taped below a certain line. Lower than what I'm used to, and the norm. So me aiming lower than I usually do might have caused limp wristing my Sigma? Didn't consistantly jam. My buddy told maybe I was limp wristing. Never thought of this. He also mentioned the push and pull method with a handgun.

I was taught how to shoot in 1955 by my Southeast Missouri Dad. He thought it important I know how to go get what I eat. Drafted in 1969 and sent to Vietnam I liked the Army so much I stayed and retired. Needless to say, I like guns and feel everyone, (Law abiding) in America should be field tested, but that's just me! I have had lots of guns over the years. This Sigma 9E has been the one gun that has amazed me. It just does what a gun is supposed to do. I had the trigger worked on because my wife has arthritis and working the slide at practice is hard for her. Want a good 9mil that works? Get this gun.

The gun and shooter just need practice to learn how to get along with each other. I'm still getting acquainted with mine.
Any mechanical problems can be taken care of by the factory. My 9VE got a better trigger assembly, a new retractor and a polished ramp and behaves well. I did a little trigger work to reduce the pull. Maybe two pounds less.
I think its a good-looking and safe weapon.

I know this is a really old thread. Anyway...
I've never had a problem with the slide not staying open after the last round. I've got about 1000 rounds through my SW9VE. I use what Wally World has to sell: Federal Bulk and WWB.
I personally have had one stovepipe: I limp wristed it. I've introduced friends and coworkers to guns with my Sigma and, typically, the women tend to hold them too loosely and the cycling doesn't function as it should, resulting in a stovepipe. I'm fairly confident, then, that a loose grip causes the stovepipes. I heard somewhere that semi-autos are often held too loosely, even by experienced shooters, and we really should probably tighten our usual grip. I found that this improved my accuracy.
I am in the group that doesn't like the long, scratchy, heavy trigger pull. I shot over 500 rounds before deciding it wasn't for me. Mind you, I decided to modify the trigger, not get rid of the Sigma, which I very much like. It feels like it's down to 6-7 pounds now, but that's just an educated guess. Lots of firing or a little sanding will smoothen it out some. Not much you can do about the length, but I wouldn't change it anyway. The original trigger set-up -- maybe not the scratchy part -- is intended as a safety feature, as has been noted, and I feel like I haven't compromised that too much with the modification. So, if anyone is put-off by the 'heavy trigger', it's not an insurmountable problem. YouTube has easy to follow videos. It was my first trigger mod and I managed it.

For all of you that find the Sigma not shooting all that accurate you may wan't to have a better crown put on your barrel. I have talked to a few gunsmiths who have said that S&W does not put the best crown on there guns and a good crown will make a significant difference in accuracy. I had the crown done on my S&W 5906 and it will drive tacks now. I am in the process of getting a new crown put on my Sigma and I will let you know how it shoots. I figure it will improve quite a bit over stock as you can see with the naked eye how bad the Sigma crown is.

A cheap but bright Chinese thing I picked up somewhere (CDNN?) for very little money on one of the Sigma-to-weaver adapters that some national company makes for the thing (think I got it from Midway USA).

I have a SW9VE and it jams every other shot.I throughly cleaned it.What could be the problem
It may be the ammo. What were you shooting? Try different ammo before contributing the problem to the gun.
A lot of reassuring reviews here. I bought mine last year in used condition from a nationwide sporting goods store. A close look inside and out, told me the gun was barely broken in. $290 plus tax, was a steal. I drove straight to the Firing Line and tested both clips with Luger FMJ 115gr.
I emptied each clip (total 32 rounds) killing my letter sized target at 15 yards, with only several rounds unaccounted for (I call them flyers). I then packed up to leave, sensing the awe that the neighboring shooters must have felt, seeing me in action.
I was a happy camper, as I had been waiting to change my concealed carry, from a Kahr CW9 which was mis-loading. I had previously used the Kahr E9 without any problems so imagine my disappointment when my new CW9 proved unreliable (Not a nice feeling). I wanted an affordable, but reliable carry that wouldn't be missed (much) if it got confiscated. I've heard the SW9VE called America's Glock, and I believe it. Great fit and feel. It took a little time to get used to carrying the full size as oppose to the compact, but it was just fine after a few days. I don't break it down after every use, I just clean the barrel. If it works don't mess with it. 
I "dust" it every week. I keep one clip empty and rotate the clips every several months.
I did the "trigger fix" myself, to get the trigger pressure reduced. I was happy with the stock trigger, but I figured that a slightly easier pull might help with those darn "flyers". I've since been back to the range a couple of times and guess what? Still got a couple of flyers out of every clip. Oh Well............
I did loan it to my nephew, who reported one time the clip failed to chamber the next round. Apparently it never made it out of the clip for some reason. Not even a little way out. It was the first or second clip fired so the gun was not that hot. He did not make a note of which clip it was. He thumbed the top round in the clip, popped it back in the gun and proceeded to finish off a 100 round box without any problems. After hearing this, all I could do was put more rounds through it (a couple hundred, various brands, all 115gr) which I did without any problems. ........Love the gun and I have "high confidence" when I carry it.

I saw the banner while browsing and said to myself, "self" there is your gun. Yes that looks like a Model 17 (K22). Now I'm really a proud owner. Mine was inherited from my father who bought it new sometime before I was born (late 40's or early 50's). It's a classic.
Can't wait to browse the rest of this forum. Respectfully, douk

I owned an SW40VE for about 2yrs. I probably put around 500 rounds through it without any issues. Accuracy was decent (Typical 4-5" @ 25 yds. ). I did not use or carry the weapon on duty (Home Defense only). I have no complaints and sold it pretty much for what I had into it. I would definitely buy another but I would go with the 9mm version this time for the cheaper ammo. Great buy for the $$$!

The SW9VE was my first handgun. It feels perfect in my hand and shoots comfortably. After 300 rounds of whatever was rolling around the bottom of the bag I declared it good for guarding the motor-home.

Picked my sw9ve up used as well , looking it over hardly used . My 1st pistol. I love it .I use it as my carry and home . The only thing I did was add Meprolite night sights . I used to think the trigger was a hard pull . Now is just fine and I like the trigger for safety as well.And it don't look bad either .
Used is OK in my experience to9. And it is perfect for the motor home Airman, especially while driving through California, since that is the only way they allow you to transport a loaded gun.
I did notice that when I use my Outside of the Pants Holster, it can scuff the polymer in places. I guess that would be true with many models, not just the SW9VE. I tried lining places in the holster with electrical tape, and that seems to lesson the wear. Wear on a gun us not good for resale value. I also have decided that I still want a compact for carry in the summertime. I use the Inside the Pants Holster in summer and that full size just does not feel right. I don't use a fanny pack, so I am in the market for a reliable compact.
Here is my SW9VE with the Out holster, and my Buck knife. And a bonus..... I threw in a picture of my K22.......with the 6" barrel.....it's a classic.

Thanks for the review on the Smith & Wesson Sigma 9VE, for years I had been debatin' on this firearm to purchase, my sole purpose of the Sigma is for everyday carry..At work I use a Kimber Custom II, well it definatly grabs attention alot, but the weight is unbearable sometimes. After reading this review I decided to go to my local FFL they had one there for $300.00, the FFL stated they sell more Sigma's than Glock's. I had a Glock, hated it; missed fired four times...it was faulty ammunition. I liked how the Sigma feels in my hand, the trigger is all not that bad and point of aim is good for me, add some night sights perfect.
