My sympathies are with today's kids.

But I am curious, are any schools teaching kids about things like personal finance? I know that there was no such class in high school when I was growing up.

I have no children in school but I seriously doubt it. Young adults I know struggle to budget what they have. I had a class in HS where we were given packets of simulated bills, checks , and envelopes to learn how to pay our bills once the time came. BUT... that was in the 1960's when knowledge like that was deemed important. Along with History, so as not to repeat.

My generation was spoiled (baby boomers) versus the generation before us.

The Greatest Generation sacrificed everything for us. They freed Europe of tyranny and saved Asia from the Japanese Emperor.

What did we do? We added Trillions of dollars to the National Debt. We have mostly failed by choosing luxury items over our duty to democracy and leadership.

We can not blame our kids.

I don't know who to blame, but we need to blame someone.

I'm a boomer too. I learned from my parents and grandparents. We didn't have luxury items, unless you call a cheap little boat and a couple of guns.

We paid off the mortgage before we started a family. We saved so that in retirement we would be comfortable. We didn't take expensive vacations - we camped in a tent for $8 a night. We taught our children the same morals and values. Our kids have their own houses and are fine adults.

The perpetrators aren't us. And we didn't vote for them either.
