Picked these up probably at least 10 yrs ago and the only other pair I have seen like them was on a Nickel N Frame back in the late 70's early 80's. Any idea on what the we're on and value ? Thanks

Not sure what they might have been on but they look user modified to me.

Kevin

Not sure on that but , who knows. The pair I saw way back when was on a new S&W in the case. My cousin ran the gun counter in that store and he has since passed.

Thanks for the info on them. I just remember seeing a pair like them many yrs ago and this pair showed up and always wondered about them. They do fit nice if you have a smaller hand.

That helps!
Those are altered N frame Combat stocks and were never sold on a gun in that configuration.

I remember a dealer selling a bunch of reject SW factory grips back in the '80's or '90's. They were inexpensive and I purchased a few pair. Some were individual panels that were paired up (mixed sharpie numbers), while others had alterations due to presumed defects. I think I still have some stashed away. I've never seen that particular modification, but it was nicely done.

Thanks for the info, maybe someone local to me made a few sets up. I know the ones I saw yrs ago were in the late 70's early 80's as the store went out of business around 81-82 time frame.

I don't see how we can be sure they started life as Combats. Couldn't they have started as smooth Targets?

I based my opinion on the amount of wood that extends below the butt of the grip frame on Targets vs Combats.
