Rob is a great guy to deal with, his holsters are top quality, and what he doesn't have on hand he will build for you. I carry a 3" 629 in one of his pancakes with the InsideOut straps. It can't be seen, even under a summer shirt and it's darn comfy! (sorry, no pics)

Roundgunners pic shows how well IWB hides stuff. A good gunbelt is a must, and then you just have to find the so called "sweet spot" - the place to put the holster & gun where it is most comfortable for you.

That holster is well made but sits REALLY high. Mine chafes my armpit with a 686. I will admit I am 5'3" so taller folk may find it acceptable, but be warned.

It must have been a year or two ago, but someone on this forum got that holster, I think for an N frame, and it was an unworkable mess.

I saw it referenced here last year and was intriqued due to the high ride design, which keeps the cylinder above the beltline, but the price tag has keep me away - so someone didn't like it, huh?

I posted a couple photo's on page 2 I think, but didn't have any with the new 3" Lobo or the 2" Sparks

I also like the JIT holster, especially if the IWB has been on all day, some times ya just don't want it right next to ya anymore!

This is with the 3" 629. With the 2" 625 it does not go past the bottom.

Bought a Hoffners' and it was au unworkable rig as all the weight of the weapon was above the belt and only the bbl on a Mtn Gun below the belt.

It shifted all the time and the grip kept printing. I'm a retired cop and wore a handgun daily for 30+ years. Best out there for my bucks is the Sparks Versa Max. The wait is fairly long but the product is worth it.

Been wearin Sparks leather since 1973.

I have carried my 3" 629 in a SimplyRugged Sourdough with inside-out straps quite a bit. Works just fine...

Reading this with interest as I was thinking of getting a Lew Horton 657 3" as a carry gun. Might have to stick with something a bit smaller for CCW. But just might get that .41 Mag "just because."

N frame IWB

I have carried N frames since the mid 70's daily....either as a duty weapon or as a concealed off duty gun..I am fond of big guns that shoot big bullets.....I am retired and still my EDC is usually an N frame. I carry a M-29 4" or a M-58 4" or a LH 24 3" IWB in a CABO ( carry a big one) holster.....I just checked their site b-4 this post and they may be out of business now.
I also use a 38 year old Smith & Wesson IWB clip holster that I "stretched" years ago by soaking it in water and putting a 3/4" drive deep well socket in it that corresponded with the diameter of the N frame.....if I go OWB I use the Galco street combat.....I have also used the Simply rugged with the belt loops....They all work and if I dress for the gun you will never know I am armed. I prefer the gun to ride so that the heel of the butt touches the inside of my elbow when my arm hangs naturally....I have seen some N frame kydex rigs on some other forums that were IWB's but don't know who they were made by. I have Hogue synthetic finger groove grips on my sq butt N's. I have big hands and cannot tolerate the gun shifting in recoil during rapid DA.

Not an IWB, but here's a fairly comfortable and concealable rig I made for an N frame.

You need enough of the grip exposed to lock in before the gun leaves the holster. The VM2 or SS2 holds the grip tight to your side, so concealment is not an issue. That said, you have to be a bit of contortionist to draw a 3" or longer barrel. I'm more comfortable putting a 4" into a pancake holster, which can ride lower, but is harder to cover. If I ever carry a 6" again, it's going to be in a Tom Threepersons holster.

I saw a guy at a local gun shop yesterday w/ a Ruger Alaskan in an IWB holster, the grip was almost to his armpit. You really are trying to fit a round peg into a square hole with guns this size.

I can comfortably carry my 58 in a horsehide SS2. Build makes a big difference. I'm tall and thin. The SS2 really keeps the butt tucked in tight.

If an N frame is going to be concealed you need small stocks on it. The butt is the difficult part. A good belt and holster minimize the weight.

Don Hume makes a reasonably priced IWB holster for N Frames that is comfortable. It isn't as nice as a Milt Sparks Summer Special but when I bought mine it was half the cost. I have both the Hume and the Sparks holsters for a 4" N Frame and the Hume is more comfortable to wear. Both are secure. Buy your pants to fit with the holster. You don't comfortably add a N frame IWB to even moderately tight jeans.

How so? You use the same waist, same gun, same holster, same concealment. What specifically is defeated?

I NEVER wear untucked shirts, which I HATE.

I don't wear vests, sport coats or anything of the like.

That means that my "cover garment" is my tucked dress shirt or polo shirt.

If the IWB isn't between my pants and me, I'm open carrying.

I have two modes of concealed carry, IWB and pocket carry. For me, anything else would be open carry. I have no objection to legal open carry. I just choose not to do it myself.
