Any snake guys out there?

This one was over six-feet long. We let him ride as he appeared non-venomous.

What kind?

Hard to say from the photo, but Black Racers are pretty much solid black. This one in the photo appears mottled, dark gray and black. If so, it's likely a Black Ratsnake. They get to 5-6 feet long. A Black racer is pretty aggressive if approached, and fast. A ratsnake will usually just try to slither away. Neither is poisonous.

Don’t know and I wouldn’t hang around to find out.

If you were in Africa, I’d say black mamba.

6’ plus…. That’s one big snake!

Alas, the black mamba doesn't have a
black body; but it's mouth is black.

A friend of mine was on a hunt in South
Africa when one was spotted. It slithered
into a small shed. My friend said some
soldiers were with them on the hunt and
they flipped a couple grenades into the
shed. I don't know if my friend was just
embellishing a story or not but I liked it.

I'll never forget when I was about 10 or so, following Granddad around the farm while he worked on stuff. Had to pee and stepped into the wood line and up to a tree and started watering it, when I suddenly saw a black rope around the base of the tree start moving.

I was peeing on a black racer, that totally encircled a rather large oak tree! Just like today, I screamed and ran away............

I agree on the rat snake. They're all around my neck of the woods. I've found several in my garage over the years.

I don't let those guys slide. Caught to many of them raiding my bluebird boxes. They get moved on to the promised land. Let the hawks eat the rats.

Black Racer. Stay cool, it's hotter'n blazed here. About to go play a little bluegrass.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Black rat snake. Pretty common here in Va. I had one about the same size on my patio about a month ago. One of the good ones that needs to live.

Commonly called a “ Chicken Snake” as they Love eggs, but the rat name maybe correct as I’m not inclined to dig out my “ Sylvester No Shoulders” book”. Back in Mtns of Va. we had one female that lived in the spring house, no rats or mice around old farm house( hunt club house).

Actually, probably true.
Mambas are aggressive, territorial, and will chase you...they can do about 35 mph through the trees. Talked to guys that actually had run ins with them...they carried shotguns for just that purpose.

Seen several when a kid had one chase me or was going same direction I was. The last one I seen was halfway across two lane outside Lynchburg TN. I felt bad squashing it with big truck nothing I could do
