I was thinking Blue Racer.
I think Rat Snakes and Blue Racers are two different snakes, but look similar.
Never actually learned to tell them apart!

Given what looks like a triangular shape of the head, around here it'd be a dead snake. Maybe, very faint memory is suggesting blue racer if there's such a thing. Ah, gent above beat me to it.

Snake just above is similar enough to a copperhead to be really dead, really fast.

He's about seven feet long.

I think I spoke a few words in French when I walked-up on him.

He was about 30 yards from the Duck Pond. Moccasins like the Duck Pond.
