At his age, that may happen independently of anything Chrysler does.

We can laugh now - but wait for the coming day when GM is owned by the Chinese government.

I can't wait to see the UAW negotiation meetings when that happens!

The UAW is in a pickle now. They have to decide whether to operate in a way that helps the workers that they ostensibly exist to benefit, or do they operate for themselves? It used to be that when they got more money for the workers, the revenue to the union went up. Now any pay raises the workers get will reduce corporate profits, which means lower dividends to the shareholders, theoretically reducing revenue to the union. This should be interesting!

My best boyhood friend back in wisconsin did his career for chrysler at rockford illnois. About 25 years ago he took me on a tour through the plant. I was impressed. He had "pull" and wanted me to work as a plant guard. I was doing it for lockheed. I wonder what happens now to their retirement? Probley a good thing I didnt take the job!

My understanding is that their retirement benefits are now taxpayer funded. Maybe you should have taken that job! (I'm sure the UAW won't let Obama put their retirement money into that old Social Security "lockbox," though- we all know how that one worked out!)

There was a time when Fiat made a front motor/rear drive called the Fiat Dino and it had the V6 Ferrari motor, they also made a similar looking car, front motor/rear drive with a slightly larger displacement V6 and it was a Ferrari Dino. I was surprised when I first saw these cars as I always thought that a Dino was the mid engine car that I drooled over when I was young.
I would call those 2 cars good looking Fiat's.

I personally don't much care what they call it. With the UAW owning a majority stake, just like Government Motors (GM), I'll never buy another one of either of them.
I live in Lansing MI, and am surrounded by UAW employees. Listening to the stories and tales that come from the factories - Never again.

Joni Lynn - There were two Fiat Dinos. The Fiat Dino Spider is a real pretty car. The Fiat Dino Coupe looks nothing like the Spider and is very plain looking. The early cars have the 206 engine (2.0 liters, 6 cylinders), and the late ones have the 246 engine (2.4 liters, 6 cylinders). One of my friends has both the 2.0 liter Spider and the 2.4 liter Spider.

The Ferrari Dino had the 2.0 liter engine in the early cars, and some people say it was the worst car that Ferrari ever built. The late cars had the 2.4 liter engine. The Ferrari Dinos had a transverse mid-engine, rear wheel drive. The US version of the Ferrari Dino 246GT was a lot heavier than the European version, with less power and less torque. The European version is the one to drive. I drove one all over Italy years ago.

Then there was the Lancia Stratos. Lancia is owned by Fiat, and the Stratos was a joint development competition car between Lancia and Ferrari. It featured a Lancia designed chassis, a highly tuned Ferrari 246 engine and transaxle, with a Bertone body. Lancia made 200 to get the homologation, and in 1976 Lancia had a warehouse full of them that they hadn't sold. I was offered to take my pick of any Stratos in the warehouse for $14,000. I did not take advantage of the offer, which was one of the many mistakes I have made in my life.

Fiat owns Lancia, Maserati, Alfa-Romeo, and a controlling interest in Ferrari. Fiat and Chrysler; I have no hope. The Soviet Union bought a factory from Fiat to build the Lada, which is a Russian version of the Fiat 128. I would not be surprised if the Russian who came up with that idea is still doing hard labor in a Siberian labor camp.
