I got a letter today from Senator Rand Paul in Fredericksburg, Virginia soliciting my support - and donation - for the "National Association for Gun Rights." Specifically he says this organization is working to oppose the UN Gun Ban.

OK I'm all for opposing that and Rand Paul seems ok,but I have some misgivings. Is this a legit organization? It says that it is a 501(c)4 non-profit, tax exempt advocacy organization and that is all well and good. Is there duplication of this organization and the efforts of the NRA on the same issue? Is the UN Gun Ban really a threat to our rights? I seem to have read that the UN can ban all it wants but unless our legislators ratify the ban it has no effect on us. True or false?

Any thoughts on this?

The UN is as much a threat to the 2nd Amendment as are Zombies to your safety. Both are products of a vivid imagination. As far as supporting gun rights, the NRA has a long history of success that speaks for itself. Before we send money to any other organization we need to research it carefully. There are a lot of people looking to cash in on peoples emotions, and gun control is certainly one of them.

You'll notice that the forum gives special recognition to NRA members. That should tell you something... ;)

Search the 2A forum for "National Association for Gun Rights" and you'll get plenty of information.

You'll also see a number of threads about the UN treaty on the front page of the 2A forum if you have "Options" in your "User CP" set to show 50 posts per page.

Both issues have been covered in detail.
