I went to the National WWII Museum in New Orleans today as a guest of the local Lions Club as part of their Veterans' Day observance. I can't express in words how wonderful the experience was. The museum fills two large buildings(and a third under development) and includes extensive exhibits depicting the war effort both in the European and Pacific theaters as well as on the home front. The Beyond All Boundaries production in their Solomon Victory theater is absolutely breathtaking in it's realism bordering on sensory overload. I have never, ever, anywhere seen such phenomenal special effects. It must be experienced to be appreciated. Such a wonderful tribute to our Greatest Generation who, against all odds, took up the challenge of saving the free world from two of the most evil regimes that the earth has ever known and, with grim determination and uncompromising sacrifice preserved the treasure of our liberty.

If any of you folks is ever anywhere near the area it is well worthwhile to go out of your way to visit this place. It will show you our America at its very best.

Every Day Of Freedom Is Veterans' Day.

I'm almost completely unable to manage more than a day trip these days, but I would love to see that museum and the one at Wright Patterson AFB..
