NAVY CHOW

Army chow was pretty awful. I was an MP and when I was at Ft. Meade the best patrol shift was graveyard because we got to eat at "The Four Hats," the mess hall that the Air Force ran for the intel folks assigned to NSA. That was good eating. In Germany I was thankful that I was assigned to a small remote unit. Army chow hall but the cooks were little old German ladies who thought we were all too skinny. Not great cooking but usually better than standard army stuff.

When I was in the Navy, The chow was always very good. I was a Sea Bee and I heard we drew a ration and a half. The coffee was good, too. I understood the specs were in the national register. That is all I remember........

Moody AFB near Valdosta, GA.
Overnight stop for Troop 33 from So Fla. to Camp Rainy Mtn. near Clayton, GA.
Pretty sure it was timed so the mess was empty for a bunch of 12 - 15 year olds to chow after a night quartered in the gym.
We may have inadvertently offended the Air Force's sensitivities.
The first time I had ever seen workout machines and the gizmo you shove a cup under and soda spits out.
Give the birds credit for the amenities but the whole place smelled funky.
It wasn't avgas either...
