If you had a name, I could probably check him out, as an old friend put his time in on the "teams"........now retired. I visited my pal back in the summer of '73 when I wheeled up to the gate at the Amphib base on Coronado and requested to see Lt. K and BOQ. I received real quick instructions. I really had to pee bad. I'll never forget the flushing power that those toilets had at my pal's apt........simply awesome! I had a chance to meet a bunch of Seals over the next couple of trips out to San Diego. Common denominator is that these are a group of very intelligent men.......high tolerance to pain is probably a plus. Funny how many years later I saw an instructor Joe Y. on one of the TV shows doing a Seals training episode. He was one of my buddys room-mates back in the day...........remember the house on Chatsworth, Joe?.......lol.......what a party stop! Bottom line.........this is one of the few cases where tax dollars are well spent in the federal arena.........just my 2 cents!

The oldest son of one of my friends is a Major in the Marine Corps. After he got back from Iraq, he told us that all the Seals that he met there were completely insane, but the good kind of insane. When they were given a tough assignment, it was a foregone conclusion that the Seals would succeed. The word "failure" is not in their vocabulary. I'm glad the Seals are on our side.

One of my assignments in the Air Force was to a joint headquarters where I worked with variety of special ops types, including SEALs. They were intelligent, dedicated, and committed. They were a bit over the top in PT (IMO, after all, I was an AF guy, and when we think of PT, we take a nap until the thought goes away), but never bragged that they were better; they didn't have to, they knew it, and so did we.
But to be fair I do not beleive that applies to Air Force PJ's, but I could be wrong?

No, it doesn't apply to PJs, CCTs, TACPs, and a whole lot of AF members who do the daily mission of taking the fight to the bad guys. But it does apply to us over-the-hill, too- broken-down-to-fly-anymore, former commanders who can only serve in a staff assignment.
Sort of like the rest of us old guys!

A directive came down from CICPAC, 7th Fleet to Carrier Groups:
The XO was stating that there would be female sailors on CVA'S and that
they would have private sleeping and showering quarters.
It was to be off limits to all male sailors, no excuses.
1st time caught $50.00, 2nd time $100.00.
My team and I were in transit on the J.F.K. at the time and, well me being the smart *** that I was then yelled, how much for a season pass.
It cost $500.00 and no season pass.

I have known and worked with two Medal of Honor recipients. I did not learn they had the awards until a year or so after having regular contact with them. I also worked with a couple of Vietnam Era Special Forces types, one Army one Navy, they were proud of their service and I believed their stories, but the stories were modest. In those day Special Forces were just the best, not superhuman. Pretenders are found out.
