Navy Victory Revolver Clarification

Very hard to tell in this picture of one of the most famous Marine Aviators, what's in his holster. Looks like a Victory, but this pic is from the Korean Conflict. Recognize him? Big Larry

Definitely a Victory Model. Photo taken at a USAF base after he had an emergency landing.

By reputation, tremendous piloting and gunnery skills, and as good a Naval Aviator as a baseball player, which is saying quite a bit.

Some military Victories remained in service through the Korean War and Vietnam eras.

As late as the mid 80's the Navy was still using Victory's for annual qualifications for pilots/aircrew. The 38 ammo we were issued had boxes marked late 40's and early 50's. A day at the range was a lot better than flying a desk.
