NC Bill to require photograph on Concealed Carry Permit

Mine here in Florida has a photo very much like a drivers license. We have to renew them every 7 years. Of course for the original they require fingerprints and background checks. And we are still a gun friendly state with a fantastic governor.

I had not noticed that. I renewed mine last year and not sure if the one before had the address or not.

The last one I had with Charles Bronson's signature did have my address on it, my latest does not.

If I lost my permit, I don't want someone else possibly using it as their own. I'm more than fine with my picture being on my permit.

Ours don't have a photo, but it wouldn't bother me if it did. In this digital age they shouldn't even require taking a new photo as long as a person has a state issued DL or ID. Just re-use the same picture. OK by me.

Doesn't seem to make sense, having your picture on the CHP. There's also a bill to make the current carry permit permanent, so over time, your picture wouldn't match up with you as you age anyway.

I have no problems with a photo CHP ID. At least whomever in the legislature is proposing these changes is doing it in favor of concealed carry, considering the current atmosphere in D.C.

Your first sentence and your third sentence are in direct conflict . . .

I live in Texas

I don't see the issue. It's 2021. And this has been ongoing since 30 or 40 years ago. All government identification cards have pictures. Drivers' licenses, military ID, Federal, State, and local employment IDs/credentials, and gun licenses and permits. Even my Dallas Police Department Volunteer ID card has my picture on it.

As a matter of fact, Texas uses the same picture on TDLs and LTCs. Saves a lot of time and trouble.

No politics. It's a no brainer and pictures ought to be required. If North Carolina was issuing concealed handgun permits without photos they were in the Dark Ages............

I live in Texas and I also have a texas concealed handgun license. My Texas Driver's license and my Concealed handgun license look so similar with the same photo that I have sometimes given my concealed handgun permit instead of my driver's license for ID purposes (cashing a check, etc.,). You should see the looks I get!

Here in Florida our pictures are on our concealed weapons permits but our addresses no longer are.

And a CWFL is not an acceptable form of ID, thus the requirement to present a license and ID when requested.

Next up: NC requires licensing of all horseless carriages.
