I sent away and got a set of fake ivory from NC Ordnance for my J frame sq butt and they are going back tomorrow, there were no pin holes drilled in either grip and the right didn't cover the bottom of the frame.
I e-mailed them last Saturday and as yet haven't heard a thing,I'm not very happy.

I've got Ajax fake ivories on my Norinco M1911. They went right on, no work required. Reasonably priced too.

You might want to try a set of the Executioner's stag grips. I have a set for one of my J frame square butts. He does a good job, prices are quite reasonable, and you can get them in "bone" style without the bark so that they look a bit like ivory.

Otherwise old Jay Scott synthetic pearl ones off Ebay will deliver a similar look for under 20 bucks usually.

I ordered a set of Ajax for my Colt 1911. When they arrived both of the top holes were drilled so shallow that the original grip screws could not connect. That was not a problem with the original grips, or a pair a friend loaded me to try. I sent the Ajax back, they redrilled them, and returned them to me. Customer service did not want to give me a credit for the cost of shipping them back to the factory. They finally agreed, but balked again when I asked for $9 shipping, saying that was way too high. I replied that is exactly what Ajax charged to ship them to me. They gave me a $5 credit on my credit card. When the grips arrived the top holes were drilled to the proper depth, but they had also scratched the grips in the process. I didn't contact them again.

the way I figure it is you get what you pay for so i go with custom makers with great to flawless reputations because i am sick of fighting with junk hence my next handgun will be a Kimber Custom 2 instead of a rock island armory they make it cheaper some how and it is usually quality
