Well, it seems to have done the trick. How long will this Epoxy hold out for?
Have you ever heard of thermal paste?
I can't really tell you man. I was just fixing it to my rail, it wasn't too tight or anything, and pop, it flew off.
Yeah I've heard of thermal paste, I have a syringe of Arctic Silver thermal sitting right here in fact!![]()
How long the epoxy will hold depends on the quality of the epoxy and the cleanliness of the surface it was applied to.
I once had a Honda ATC 125m trike which I sold to a friend, he in turn shattered the reverse gear doing reverse drop outs. The gear fractured into 5 pieces. I took all five pieces and glued them back together with JB Weld Kwik and let it cure then sanded and filed the gear. It lasted the rest of that trike's life....
There should never be any pressure on those pins at all, so if they just came out because of poor tolerances (loose) then they should never come back out again.
LOL, thats awesome, I didn't know JB weld was that strong.
Have to comment on the Mark lll scopes. I have sold several hundred of these (in various magnifications and reticle styles) through my website and have had possibly 5 returned for legitimate problems. NC Star immediately shipped me a replacement for each one. I have had a few returned for what was described as a crooked reticle, but when the scope arrived no problem was found. Overall, a good buy for the money. Any decent retailer will immediately replace a defective product, manufacturers warranty or not. NC Star markets many really well made and innovative products at excellent price points. On the other hand, they also market some of the worst dogs I've ever handled. The Mark lll scopes are a fine product as far as I can tell.

Wouldn't you opinion on a product that you sell be a little bit biased though? I can't really expect you to come in and and talk about how junky the stuff you sell is. Even if you're telling the truth, once would have to be suspicious of your bias.
That being said, my situation could have just been a freak accident, who knows? I was able to fix mine, and hopefully it stays fixed.
While we're on the subject, should I epoxy the screws that attach the scope to the base?

Well when you have other forum regulars purchasing from someone and saying things like "outstanding" "great to deal with" etc etc.. I'd tend to listed to what he has to say.
We know that we get what we pay for... You don't get top notch for bottom barrel. But I think I paid, precisely what my Mark III is worth.
i do have a question, what did you do to break your scope? i know it didnt ship like that. are you sure a little mishandling didnt cause some of it? i mean, you had people offering to fix it for you for free and turned it down. i break things all the time and get upset about it, it isnt that big of a deal. and yeah, rrages is top notch, i just got one of the best answers in a PM from a dealer that ive ever gotten, i just dont understand your animosity towards people trying to help you and will leave your thread alone because i dont want you to think im attacking you as well. i do want to say though, when people try to help you dont belittle them. sorry if i seem off base with my comments and i understand how you would think a dealer would be "bias" towards his/her merchandise but at least accept his opinion. NCstar isnt the only brand he carries.
LOL. 8 pages worth....
Begining of the end....What model did you exchange for and how much was it? I want to find something soon.
I'm sad to report that my NcStar scope would not hold zero. It was fine for about five rounds then after that, it was way off. Now keep in mind, this was on a .223 (though, according to the description, that's what it's made for), so it may be fine on the M&P15-22. I guess now I have to review my options. They are:
1. Send it back to NcStar - Might not be an option since I had to epoxy parts of it. I'm sure they'll claim that it voids my warranty.
2. Sell it at a loss on ebay.
3. Keep it and see if it'll work with my .22.
What would you guys do?
