need a .357 load for 125 gr.

You might get some leading if you push those light bullets with a healthy charge of 2400. Do you have Bullseye, Unique or W231 on hand? One of those would give you a better load IMO.

Ya i got unique but I am going to get rid of my lead bullets, Don't like the way they smoke I guess it is the lube or sealant burning felt like I was shooting black powder!!

I agree if He has unjacketed bullets I wouldn't push them too fast or they will likely lead like crazy.

I actually enjoy the smoke and smell of cast bullets, but I understand it's not for everyone. I would really save your 2400 for jacketed bullets, a light to moderate load of 2400 under a light cast bullet will leave some unburnt powder and just generally make a mess. Unique in a 357 case giving you about 1050 fps will be a very fun load to shoot for ya.

I have had excellent results (1" @ 25 yards) with 9.0 gr. Unique, standard primer, under a 125 gr. jacketed bullet but do not know how substituting a lead bullet would pan out, as it is pretty warm.

Unfortunately 2400 is not the best choice those lightweight cast bullets. Heavy for caliber one can work well with it, but not light. What else do you have? There are many faster powders that work quite well. If they are hardcast or 'magnum' grade bullets rather than soft lead, and the diameter fits your gun's throats well, you can drive them up to around 1100fps without too much fear of leading.

I have some 158gr plated bullets how much of unique or 2400 for a middle to upper load in .357 cases?

Plated bullets fall between lead and jacketed. Most folks use lead data or starting to low-mid range jacketed data for a bullet with a similar profile. You should be able to find this in any of your reloading manuals.

158gr plated I would start at 14.8gr of 2400. Most of us wheelmen love the smoke!

Actually, when I load a 158gr jacketed/plated bullet with 2400 I charge 14.5gr and find it to be a good round.

I stand corrected..... i guess.
No No, not at all. As we know everyone's handgun is different and while you got great results with 14.8gr 2400 I did with 14.5gr 2400. Neither is incorrect and I was only adding information.
