Need a firsthand opinion on Timney trigger

Like a lot of people I'm not real impressed with my stock AR style trigger. It has about 2 meters of travel and it has to be an 8lb pull. I'm considering a timney with 3 or 4 pound pull but some of the reviews I've read complain about too much travel. Of course I have no idea what they were expecting so I'd like to get some firsthand info here. I looked into the CMC's also which were also supposed to be a drop in trigger and are described as such. However they had a disclaimer stating that even though it is designed to be a drop in it may require some professional fitting by a gunsmith. I really don't want to pay $100 to have my drop in trigger fitted. Maybe just lawyer talk but I don't want to take the chance. Anyway, if anyone here has the Timney, how do you like it and what is your experience with it.

I have the 3lb and couldn't be happier with it. I have the "15 minute trigger job" and polished fcg and it's ok, but I like the Timney MUCH better. It really is drop in. I didn't like dealing with the little set screws that put tension on the pins, so I just went with anti-walks and don't mess with those dumb little screws at all. They're under the spring legs so I had a h*ll of a time getting to them. YMMV, but it was definitely worth the money for me.

Any issues with failure to fire using the light trigger with mil-spec ammo? By the way, the S&W's are a small pin right?

Have it in my 15-22 and have had it in my Sport.......

I also have a CMC Landing today to try out....

Alltho I know some peeps fingers are lots more sensitive than mine, having access to a trigger pull gauge to measure the pull is a worthwhile investment................at least it was to me!!

I went with the 4½-pound skeletonized model and I love it.

I installed the Timney in my S&W M&P 15TS and it made the carbine about one-hundred times more useful. The reason I went for the 4½-pound trigger pull is that I use the rifle as a home defense rifle and I want no mistakes when I have to face a bad guy.

At the rifle range, I find no problems with using the 4½-pound pull. The Timney trigger breaks like an icicle and it is amazingly consistent. I've fired about 2,000 rounds through my M&P with the Timney installed and have experienced NO failures to fire .... it's just perfect.

YES, I would buy the Timney Trigger again.
