Need a Fram filter?

Cool!

I remember when changing my own oil didn't require 3 EPA forms, a disposal fee for the used oil, a photo ID, and a DNA sample. I may have forgotten some the requirements since I quit changing it myself.

On my last trip to the dealer that I have been going to for several years, they charged me for 7 quarts of oil, the 7th qt. for $3.40. When I mentioned to the kid service writer that I had never been charged for a 7th qt. before, and that the advertised oil capacity is 6 qts. with filter, he stared at me in total silence like a deer in the headlights. I checked the oil level and it was right and clean and clear so I decided that my time was worth more than 3 bucks.

To add insult to injury, however, after getting home, I didn't move the vehicle from the garage for almost two days and when I did, I found that oil had dripped out all over the garage floor and the oil level was a hair low.

I fixed the problem before leaving, but on the trip back to the dealer to have them clean up the mess on a vehicle that had never leaked a drop, I was thinking about when I used to change it myself... the kid gave me a coupon for an extra free car wash for my troubles.

On overcharging/overfilling the oil: That Quickie Oil Change joint that wrote up 6 quarts for my P/U, I had the service manual in my hand showing "oil capacity" at 5 quarts! (They wanted $5.50 per qt. over 5!) and refused to pay for it!

I recall that number but my wife traded her Rondo for a CRV 2 years ago.

Surprisingly that Kia Rondo was a good little vehicle.
