It's been nice and quiet around the neighborhood for the last couple of years. The serial killer down the road left a sock full of DNA in the mouth of a dead 17 year old truck stop hooker down in Florida 24 years ago and some sharp investigator working cold cases put all the pieces together three years ago. We paid him a visit three years ago this month and shipped him off to Florida. His trial is sometime this month.
They found the DNA because he had been entered into the DNA bank while serving time in Arkansas for killing...another hooker.

The twice convicted child molester directly across the road from me got three more years (he originally served a full ten years on the 2nd charge) on a parole violation because his parole officer found a meth pipe in his trailer. (I wonder how they found out about that?) I can't stomp up in a trailer w/o a search warrant, but a P.O. can. He's getting out in August so I've got plenty of time to work on that. His mother told me he told her he couldn't understand why I didn't like him. I told her it was simple. I have grandchildren. The neighbors have children. We don't like child molesters. If he does come back it won't be long before he messes up. He doesn't work and will probably draw the same SSI check he had when he got his parole violated. That's his weak spot. All the skanks show up the first of the month helping him spend some of the check. Catch one of them doing something stupid and they'll flip him.

The drug dealer down by the highway is still doing federal time. I don't know when he's getting out. His burglar alarm went off about three years ago after someone kicked in his front door. I knew what he was and used it as a good opportunity to see what was in his house. Gotta make sure there aren't any burglars still in there. I didn't see any evidence of any drugs but I did see the most expensive tennis shoe collection I've ever seen in my life. There were hundreds of high dollar shoes in every style you could imagine.

My most immediate concern is not with these people. For the time being they're still locked up. A lot of you folks have seen me write about Dr. E in the past. When I first moved to this area it was pretty quiet except for some of Dr. E's mostly drunken adventures. Unfortunately Dr. E went from happy go lucky redneck party guy to full flegged meth cook and dealer. For those who don't know, meth makes you stupid. It makes you even more stupid if you are already stupid. He was making it, selling it, cruising to get the ingredients for it, and the deeper he got into it, the louder he talked about it. He nailed signs to trees in his yard daring law enforcement to catch him. They did. He got out on bond the first charge and took up where he left off when he got out. He got busted again with no bond for a second charge two weeks later and sat in the county jail for 17 months until he got a court date.

He pled guilty to 20 years with a first parole hearing in five years. That was 2 1/2 years ago. In the meantime, the house he had been living in had been vacant. It was owned by his grandmother and is still in probate. She died five years ago. He talked his two brothers, also heirs to the estate, who are not in prison yet, into letting his girlfriend/fiancee move into the house. The strange thing about her is she's the grandmother to his child that he had with her daughter 12 years ago. It was quiet for a while after she moved in. Even though she's a pillhead she managed not to stir things up. She's had a couple of room mates who helped her with expenses. The first room mate couldn't handle it and left and moved in with one of Dr. E's brothers. She didn't stay long but he got a motorcycle out of the deal which is is only source of transportation. The next room mate moved in after she had been severely beaten by her ex-boyfriend. She actually had a car and they could go places and buy stuff.

Grandmother/girlfriend/fiancee let her son Mike move in with his pregnant (at least she says she is) girlfriend whom he met in rehab. They are a lovely couple. When they first showed up over there she was driving a real nice Ford F-250. I later found out she had taken it from her 72 year old sugar daddy (she's 31) and neglected to return it. Room mate #2 called for a civil standby so she could get her stuff out without getting beaten up by Mike and his girlfriend. They weren't there when the deputies arrived but when they pulled up in the yard a few minutes later Mike's girlfriend, who was driving, fell out of the F-250 as she was screaming obscenities at whoever would listen. She and Mike had been drinking vodka all day and she was rewarded with a DUI. A few more remarks from Mike and he would have gone with her.

My problem started when Mike showed up at my house. He had wrecked his mother's Explorer and several other vehicles that he had "borrowed" from his friends so they had no way of getting around. I also knew he was bad about "sucker punching" people. He's cut his wrists improperly (even though I've told him the right way to do it) a couple of times resulting in free ambulance rides. Mike wanted a ride. He also asked for some whiskey and some food. I wasn't nice to him and escorted him from my house and told him not to come back. He showed back up two weeks ago all screwed up wanting to know why I didn't like him. I explained in no uncertain terms why I didn't like him and told him the next time he comes back to my house he's either going to get hurt, go to jail, or both.

Today is the first of the month. That's usually when the trouble starts. On 2/1/12 Dr, E's Girlfriend/fiancee/ baby grandma/ Mike's momma went to the drugstore to pick up Mike's monthly supply of Lortabs, Soma, and some kind of psycho pills. On the way she stopped and got some beer and BBQ ribs. She drank some of the beer, ate some of the ribs, and got called in on six times for her bad driving. There was BBQ sauce all over the Lortab and Soma pill bottles that were found in the truck she was driving after she passed out in the middle of the road. The seat was soaked in urine. She was transported by ambulance because she might have died in jail from an overdose. She doesn't know it yet but she has charges pending. Everything starts over at the first of the month. It may get inteeresting soon.

Now Thass whut I'm talkin' 'bout!!

Just when the forum begins to digress into all sorts of meanderings, Charlie comes up with one of his jewels!

Charlie, how thoughtful of you to go the extra mile by clearing the drug dealer's house when his alarm went off. And your counseling in such a caring way with the child molester's mother. And your patient way of explaining things to Mike and trying to set him back on the straight and narrow path. You, Sir, are a Gentleman and a Scholar, and a fine practitioner of the Law Enforcement profession. Not to mention being a pretty dang good story teller.

Thank you, Sir!

Dang it Charlie... that reads like an Elmore Leonard book... l'll be keepin you in my prayers for safety and wisdom in dealin with that entire group!

Thanks Charlie for the update. Thought you had retired. Very interesting news. In fact reminds me of my neighbors across the street. But maybe something wrong, the cops haven't been there this month. Oh, I forgot this is the first.

Charlie, you are the biggest inspiration I have to get more of my rifles scoped. Can you recommend ways to positively ID a meth-head at 300 yards using a 6x scope. ;)

Wow! What a bunch of drug abusing (and child abusing) characters you have in your neighborhood.

I'm sure your other, law abiding neighbors are very grateful that you have been taking out the trash, and helping to keep them safe.

Every neighborhood needs somebody like you, to keep an eye on things.;)

Thank you, and stay safe!

Indeed stay safe Charlie. I guess i could say, why don't you get the heck out of that neighborhood too but i won't. Maybe being LEO makes it interesting or challenging to you to be around this **** on a day to day basis. Maybe you just don't feel like letting the scum of this earth move you away from something that was once a good area for you. Anywho, be careful and keep eyes in the back of your head. Never know what a Methhead will do. Keep practising with your duty weapon.

What is with meth? Is it cheaper or more available than other stuff like cocaine? I saw a guy once about 30 years ago in a hospital parking lot. He had escaped from a couple of guards that were bringing him in because he was screwed up on animal tranquilizer. He jumped on a car hood and beat the windshield with his fist till it was a bloody stump. So much for a fun "recreational drug".
The news here is full of the availability of cheap heroin. High school kids in some well to do Chicago suburbs are using the stuff. I used to visualize heroin as hard core, used buy wacko types that shoot up in filthy drug houses. Now 16 yr olds are doing it in the safety of parents homes? Whats next, reading, writing, and a methadone clinic in every school?
When I was 21 I was smoking marijuana. It was the cool thing to do in the late '60's. I landed a good job and at that point in time marijuana possession could get you 10 yrs in the grey stone hotel. The thought of going to jail scared the **** out of me. So I quit. I guess nobody cares about consequences now?

Boring...
our life is just soooo boring out here in the country...
i guess we'll stay here after reading this story...

be safe..and accurate

I have to say that I would move out of that area. It is more like you appear to being pushed out of the neighborhood.

You could well be a target as well. You have a sidearm and all know it and you may have more guns they do not know about. The guns can be sold cheap once stolen.

As you know, LEO are often thought to be the one that turned someone in that lives in the neighborhood..

I strongly suggest a relocation in your future.

I was the one that turned them in. I'm not going anywhere. They are. With a little patience they will hang themselves. Baby grandma/ fiancee has already burned several houses she's lived in, including her mother's house. I expect to see smoke any time now. She's a chain smoker and isn't very careful in the kitchen. If she gets one more DUI the state will be feeding her. Burned house or DUI. Either way she's out of here and Mike goes with her if he's not already in jail or the state hospital. Dr. E and the child molester are the only two coming back, and that's not right away. I can handle them. I have an alarm, two safes, a dog, and am proficient with what I have around the house when I'm home. I'm never outside without protection. It's gonna be quiet here again. It just might take a little time.

A local lady just got sent to the state facilities for violating a 3.5 year probation on marijuana charges.. She was two months from being clear. She was cooking meth when she was caught this time. She is in her 60's.

Thanks for your update Charlie.
