It's been nice and quiet around the neighborhood for the last couple of years. The serial killer down the road left a sock full of DNA in the mouth of a dead 17 year old truck stop hooker down in Florida 24 years ago and some sharp investigator working cold cases put all the pieces together three years ago. We paid him a visit three years ago this month and shipped him off to Florida. His trial is sometime this month.
They found the DNA because he had been entered into the DNA bank while serving time in Arkansas for killing...another hooker.
The twice convicted child molester directly across the road from me got three more years (he originally served a full ten years on the 2nd charge) on a parole violation because his parole officer found a meth pipe in his trailer. (I wonder how they found out about that?) I can't stomp up in a trailer w/o a search warrant, but a P.O. can. He's getting out in August so I've got plenty of time to work on that. His mother told me he told her he couldn't understand why I didn't like him. I told her it was simple. I have grandchildren. The neighbors have children. We don't like child molesters. If he does come back it won't be long before he messes up. He doesn't work and will probably draw the same SSI check he had when he got his parole violated. That's his weak spot. All the skanks show up the first of the month helping him spend some of the check. Catch one of them doing something stupid and they'll flip him.
The drug dealer down by the highway is still doing federal time. I don't know when he's getting out. His burglar alarm went off about three years ago after someone kicked in his front door. I knew what he was and used it as a good opportunity to see what was in his house. Gotta make sure there aren't any burglars still in there. I didn't see any evidence of any drugs but I did see the most expensive tennis shoe collection I've ever seen in my life. There were hundreds of high dollar shoes in every style you could imagine.
My most immediate concern is not with these people. For the time being they're still locked up. A lot of you folks have seen me write about Dr. E in the past. When I first moved to this area it was pretty quiet except for some of Dr. E's mostly drunken adventures. Unfortunately Dr. E went from happy go lucky redneck party guy to full flegged meth cook and dealer. For those who don't know, meth makes you stupid. It makes you even more stupid if you are already stupid. He was making it, selling it, cruising to get the ingredients for it, and the deeper he got into it, the louder he talked about it. He nailed signs to trees in his yard daring law enforcement to catch him. They did. He got out on bond the first charge and took up where he left off when he got out. He got busted again with no bond for a second charge two weeks later and sat in the county jail for 17 months until he got a court date.
He pled guilty to 20 years with a first parole hearing in five years. That was 2 1/2 years ago. In the meantime, the house he had been living in had been vacant. It was owned by his grandmother and is still in probate. She died five years ago. He talked his two brothers, also heirs to the estate, who are not in prison yet, into letting his girlfriend/fiancee move into the house. The strange thing about her is she's the grandmother to his child that he had with her daughter 12 years ago. It was quiet for a while after she moved in. Even though she's a pillhead she managed not to stir things up. She's had a couple of room mates who helped her with expenses. The first room mate couldn't handle it and left and moved in with one of Dr. E's brothers. She didn't stay long but he got a motorcycle out of the deal which is is only source of transportation. The next room mate moved in after she had been severely beaten by her ex-boyfriend. She actually had a car and they could go places and buy stuff.
Grandmother/girlfriend/fiancee let her son Mike move in with his pregnant (at least she says she is) girlfriend whom he met in rehab. They are a lovely couple. When they first showed up over there she was driving a real nice Ford F-250. I later found out she had taken it from her 72 year old sugar daddy (she's 31) and neglected to return it. Room mate #2 called for a civil standby so she could get her stuff out without getting beaten up by Mike and his girlfriend. They weren't there when the deputies arrived but when they pulled up in the yard a few minutes later Mike's girlfriend, who was driving, fell out of the F-250 as she was screaming obscenities at whoever would listen. She and Mike had been drinking vodka all day and she was rewarded with a DUI. A few more remarks from Mike and he would have gone with her.
My problem started when Mike showed up at my house. He had wrecked his mother's Explorer and several other vehicles that he had "borrowed" from his friends so they had no way of getting around. I also knew he was bad about "sucker punching" people. He's cut his wrists improperly (even though I've told him the right way to do it) a couple of times resulting in free ambulance rides. Mike wanted a ride. He also asked for some whiskey and some food. I wasn't nice to him and escorted him from my house and told him not to come back. He showed back up two weeks ago all screwed up wanting to know why I didn't like him. I explained in no uncertain terms why I didn't like him and told him the next time he comes back to my house he's either going to get hurt, go to jail, or both.
Today is the first of the month. That's usually when the trouble starts. On 2/1/12 Dr, E's Girlfriend/fiancee/ baby grandma/ Mike's momma went to the drugstore to pick up Mike's monthly supply of Lortabs, Soma, and some kind of psycho pills. On the way she stopped and got some beer and BBQ ribs. She drank some of the beer, ate some of the ribs, and got called in on six times for her bad driving. There was BBQ sauce all over the Lortab and Soma pill bottles that were found in the truck she was driving after she passed out in the middle of the road. The seat was soaked in urine. She was transported by ambulance because she might have died in jail from an overdose. She doesn't know it yet but she has charges pending. Everything starts over at the first of the month. It may get inteeresting soon.
