I had a Midway compact range bag which was a good size and had a zillion pockets but the bottom wore through in about 2 years. I'd like to get a similiarly sized bag but out of tougher material. I'm currently considering bags by CED and Boyt. What I want is a lot of pockets and the ability to carry two revolvers in internal padded compartments.
I welcome your thoughts.

:) I have a Midway range bag, the large one I think. I was going to give you a link to it but the site is down right now. I have had mine for six years and couldn't be happier. I think for the money they are a good deal. They run them on sale most of the time. Maybe the larger ones are made out of heavier material. Don

I also have the large Midway range bag and have had it in service for 5+ years. The only issue I have had is that the internal padded pistol cases (3 of them) have all come apart at the seams. They still work, they just don't look very nice. When Midway had a sale on Uncle Mike's padded pistol cases I just bought 4 of them and threw out the old ones.

But for what it's worth I also have a Boyt made tactical/duty bag in the back of my Tahoe and it is very well made. The material seems tougher than that of my Midway shooters bag, but it should; it cost quite a bit more.

Maybe a hard/stiff liner material for the bottom is in order? Was the wear internal or external? Did it wear through from being drug on stuff or did the stuff inside wear through?

Hard to beat leather for durability.

I have one of the really old "Bagmaster" bags, I bought at a gun show over 25 years ago, and still use it. It is beginning to show some wear, so it may only last another 5-10 years. At the time the advertising listed it as having "Ballistic Nylon".

I have a regular range bag, and found it was a little too small, kind of hard to get pistol rugs in and out, and too light to carry several boxes of ammo.
So I found a nice zipper widemouth tool bag at Lowe's which has 6 pockets inside and 4-5 outside, reinforced bottom, shoulder strap, etc. Cost $19, way less than a regular range bag, and plus it does not look like you are carrying a bunch of guns in it. I think it was the 16" size, but they have larger if you needed more room.

One range bag? My good man... you need at least two! One for all the guns, rugs, accessories and what nots... and another for ammo! One of these days l may even follow my own advice!

My range "stuff"

Some of my range goodies.......cheap and very useful. Tough as nails, too.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've put some "Gorilla" tape on the holes while I look at Bagmaster and Hafner bags.

I've had a I-Shot bag for years, wears like iron. I wore a hole in one of the 'brass bags' a couple years back and they sent a replacement- quick and easy.
I'd suggest a look at 'em..................
