I've been searching all over for a gunsmith that will do a radical dehorn.

So far, no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

if you are only wanting the slide, you can do it yourself with a file, some 320 paper and a glass bead blaster. you will lose the lettering. just break all edges to taste, being careful in the cutout for the slide stop to engage (as too much removal in that area could affect lockback on an empty mag)

you will have to remove sights and all components as the powder filings will get into every knook and cranny.

if you require the frame to be dehorned, it will require stripping of the anodizing after you dehorn the frame and then re anodizing.

I am sure there are other techniques, but this worked for me.

good luck

I wonder if having the frame Hardchromed would be as good as having it anodized?
I know that anodizing hardens the outer skin of the aluminum, not sure if having the frame copper then HCd would do that or not? Probobly Not or S&W would have used that instead..
Plan on smoothing out that area near the mag release buttons at the top of the grip frame as it rubs my middle fingers knuckel on every 3rd generation S&W I've ever handeled..
I might have to give Virgil Tripp or Horrace Boothe a call & see??
Now to go matte, brushed flats, polished, HC or NP3??
