I'm doing a trade with a fellow for his S&W 35-1. Here is his description;

"Six inch barrel, greater than 90% original blueing, holster wear around the barrel. Much to my dissmay, the box and paperwork are long gone."

I want to make sure of the value of each weapon for a fair trade. I know the 35-1's are pretty rare, and with the box and papers go for a pretty penny.

Here are the pictures. It looks a little rougher than I'd like it to, especially on that side plate...but I'm not sure if thats oil or not.

I'd clarify the finish condition first; some consider any remaining blue as counting toward the total, but that sideplate (barrel, ejector rod) looks pretty worn. I would guess this one at about $500 with the wear as pictured.

JMO - But I'd hold off. Too many times over the years I've made an "impulse buy" on a gun that wasn't up to my standards, simply because I'd been looking for one or thought I'd upgrade later. In almost all instances, I was sorry. I waited on a Mod. 35 'til I found this at a gunshow about 2 yrs. ago. It's like new with the original box but, unfortunately, the box isn't like new. As I recall, I paid $575 for it. (Private seller, no tax) Now, like several other S&W's that I have, I hesitate shooting it & possibly damaging it.
