Hi there everyone
I have a 460 S&W revolver in standard 8 1/2 inch barrel , Im starting in metallic sillouhette comps out to 100 & 200 metres.
Im just after some way to either have QD mounts so I can use standard sights at other times or do I have to remove the rear? sight permanently:eek:.
I was unsure of optics and mounts as Ive never used them on my own Handguns. A mate of mine had a 2-7 vari on his freedom arms 45-70 seemed ok.Any suggestions?
Leupold scopes? successes with what your using? Red dot scopes?? anyone

I have a burris fastfire II on my 500S&W they are the only manufacturer that said their scope would handle the recoil of the 500.
it is mounted on a weigand combat mount, but yes you have to remove the rear sight.
others may work as well but I haven't heard much.

Hey Vic
What do you use your 5ooSW for with that Burris fastfire? what sort of ranges have you used it?
Thanks for the info

I bought the 500 for whitetail deer here in indiana, I know that it is a lot of gun for that but I enjoyed hunting with my 44mag. and when I turned 50 that was my best excuse to buy the 50 cal. now my eyes are getting to where I have trouble focusing on both sights at the same time. I have put the burris on.
I have it mounted but haven't had time on the range yet to work with it much.

weigand mount and a Weaver Classic Handgun 2x28 mm scope on my 500.. so far it's held up to the recoil

Hi,Steve here. I mounted a Burris 2x7 with a Burris base and Burris Signature rings on my 460XVR.

I have Warner rings with a 2X Leupold pistol scope. Mounted on a 6 1/2 Performance Center 460. The scope hasn't moved a fraction in 4 years, with 9 whitetails tagged.

same here on my 460 XVR. I tried a lesser scope on my 8-3/8" 686. It was terrible. After a few rounds, I took it off and replaced it with the same 2x7 burris that is on my 460.

Vic, any more to report on how you like the Burris fastfire II?
What sort of ranges have you used it?

Thanks

I.Hunt, did you find a mount for your 460? I bought the same scope for my 460 xvr with the 10.5 inch barrell.

I use Leupold VX3 2.5-8 on my frames
