I have the opportunity to purchase a stainless, 686-5, 6" barrel. It was made 2/19/01, serial number CER2264.

The asking price is $625. Please tell me what you think about this revolver and the price. Thanks for your advice.

Price depends a great deal on condition and somewhat on where located.

Around here that would be top dollar for LNIB for the 6 inch bbl. The 4" bbl is more popular. YMMV

Thanks for the info so far

I'm located in northern Indiana.

I paid $450 for a no dash 686 in excellent condition with trigger work done on it. Mine has the six inch barrel.

I just went online to theoutdoorstrader.com and found three listing between $500 and $550 so i'd say $625 is too high, but that's just my opinion.

Overpriced, you can get them on GB for $450-$550 easily. Even a -4 that does not have the MIM parts that the -5 has.

I paid $550.00 for a really nice 686-5 6", a deal in Norcal, where everything nice that is hard to get is overpriced.
