Sorry i didnt know where else to put this thread - I'm looking for a smaller ccw, and i found what i think to be a good deal on a used P-11. The weapon comes with 2 mags, one has the extension on it, and a holster that looks like the cheap uncle mike's that holds an extra mag in the front. They guy wants 200 bucks. he said he's the second owner, and has only put about a box through it. i asked him what kinda shape its in, and all he said was he'd give it an 8 out of 10. does anyone have any experience with this weapon? i need all the input i can get. I've never owned a kel-tec, and the second owner selling plus the 8 of 10 makes me a little nervous. Also - i've been looking for an lcp for this same purpose, and i found a dealer that will part with one for 265 NIB. but its just the weapon and one mag. The only reasons that i'm even considering the p-11 is obivously the price difference, and the bigger caliber. let me know what you guys think please!

p-11's are great little guns and have a lifetime warranty from KT. CS is second to none and I've had peerless experiences with them on eery occasion!

WHOA...... Hold on there.

Don't get all excited about a twice sold gun (who knows why everyone is getting rid of it) when you can buy a new P11 for $222 from Cheaper than Dirt...
15200 - Kel-Tec P-11 Semi-Automatic Handgun 9mm 3.1" Barrel 10 Rounds Polymer Grips Parkerized Finish

I don't think you need to rush into this. ;)

I wasnt rushing into anything but that is good info to have. I was definately curious why it was twice sold though. turns out the guy sold it today, so deals off - was just wondering what everyone thought of it. i'll still get the lcp though.

sorry for the noob question but whats CS?

You're really talking about two very different weapons. My LCP holds only 6 rounds of .380 and is the absolute minimum for SD. It is a very deep concealment piece designed for FTF confrontation. That is the role mine plays, and my EDC is an M&P 340 .357 loaded w/+P .38 HP. The KelTec you mention is a 9mm and is larger and heavier.

If it were me I'd take my time and rent both if you can and see what you like best. I'm always cautious buying a second hand semi auto and never do so unless I know the seller personally.

Best of luck and let us know what you decide.

correct.

i ave almost every pistol that KT makes and if you lose the slide stop, call and they'll send you a new one no charge, or any other part as well. i once lost a slide in the field because of a broken slide stop while shooting and they replaced it for me! after the story concerning the 8 foot deep ditch filled with 170 years of cattle waste that it landed in!

Thanks for the advice. The seller made the decision for me - he sold it earlier today. not really out from under me, but last message i had from him said he would hold it. Im not that upset though. I wanted the LCP more, plus it will be brand new. that is what i wanted the LCP for, btw is deep concealment, and for hot summer days that i just dont wanna carry my sigma. but if anyone cares, i'll be happy to report on my shiny new LCP after i get it.

Not that it matters much now, since i wont be getting the p-11, but can i ask what minor changes you speak of?

My daughter's gun is a P11. She has two 10-round magazines and a 15-round magazine with a sleeve to extend the grip. I trust it, or I wouldn't let her carry it.

Please look at the Ruger LC9 instead of the LCP. It is just a little bigger and is a real 9mm instead of a .380.

I definately have looked at the LC9, and for what i'm getting it for, i think the LCP would better serve its purpose. On jacket days, my SW9VE will be worn, but on shorts/tshirt day, the LCP will do fine. I just need to figure out what to do about that pesky second mag....does anyone know of a decent IWB holster for this weapon? (not a huge fan of sticking it in your pocket)

To the O/P, the Kel-Tec P11 is a good handgun for the money. $200 is not a bad price for a used one in good shape with two mags or more, as you mentioned in your original post. The main thing most folks don't like about the P11 is the long heavy trigger, which is similar to many double action revolvers. It is one of the older handguns that Kel-Tec makes, with the little P32 being the oldest, if I'm not mistaken.

Kel-Tec has recently changed their warranty program and no longer gives life time warranty wok on all of their guns. The life time warranty only applies to the original owners. They still have excellent customer service and if you are half way handy, you can call them and tell them the trouble and they will mail you the part you need to fix it yourself, or take to your gunsmith.

I've owned about 6 or 7 of them including one P11 and two of the slimmer single stack 9mm PF9s. They are just a tad too big for me to pocket carry, and if I was going to belt carry, I'd prefer a gun with more rounds or a larger caliber. I've enjoyed all of them and will probably own another of the little P32 pistols in the near future. The P32, the P3AT and the LCP are all deep concealment guns. They are the ultimate Ear, Nose and Throat gun. The trouble for me is I get a little lazy, and instead of strapping on a gun that is "comforting", I tend go with the little pocket pistol that is "comfortable". Then I walk out of the stop and rob and look into the eyes of some big o' corn fed dude that just got out of prison and wonder to myself if the little .380 in the pocket will make him quit if I need it to...

Just my $.02. ymmv.

YA, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GREAT!!

After I bought a new P-11 and it blew up on the 9th shot, I sent it back and they gave me A NEW GUN & told me if I am still alive after the next one blow's up they will give me a 2nd one. Great guys just cheap products!!

The P11 was Kel Tec's first offering followed by the P40 (no longer made). The .40 was just too much for the platform. The Sub 9 (replaced by the Sub 2000) followed. The Sub 9 fired from an open bolt and was too close to being a machinegun. I think the SU-16 followed the Sub 2000, and the P32 was next.

So much for Kel Tec ancient history. :D

I owned two of them. Very long and hard trigger pulls makes it kind of hard to keep on target. Other wise, a gun that will feed what ever you give it. I used the gun as a stepping stone to a better gun (M&P9c)
