I have been shoping online for a soft case and my head is spinning trying to choose.

I need something that is strong, high quality and no more than 3 inches wide [to stash under bed].

Most images on line are poor and don't show the case open.
I'd like straps inside to secure the rifle with a good amount of padding. Outer Mag pockets are a plus too.

I have looked at:
Blackhawk
Allen
Uncle Mike's
Voodoo
Condor and many others.

You advice would help me choose a case I won't be disappointed with.

I am looking for a good quality case in the $40.00-$70.00 range.

Something like this style:

I have several Voodoo bags. They are pretty good from all angles, price/ construction/ features.

I own two of these. One for my 15-Sport, the other for my 15-22. It has generous front pouches for mags, tools, lube, ammo, etc. The front zip has two padded sleeves for handguns & other accoutrement. The main area has padding & straps to secure the rifle.

I also own a Bulldog Discreet case.

I shoot at a Bass Pro indoor rifle tube. The Bulldog discreet case is nice because it does not draw attention transiting through the parking lot and transiting through the store.

JaPes. Could you measure the inside and see if a 36-3/4" (almost 37") RR with a very large scope will squeeze in there diagonally ??? Love that case and price. I know it will fit my 15 T.

Wish they had the hard case back in stock that, that case will fit in.

Thanks.

I have a UTG softside case:

Amazon.com: UTG Deluxe Covert Homeland Security Gun Case: Sports & Outdoors

Really happy with it so far - things I like:
It is big enough that I can fit 2 AR's inside if I need to (depending on what optics I have attached), both strapped down, and they seem to be held in place pretty well.
The accessory section - mag holders are big enough to each hold 2 P-Mag's, the pistol holder seems to hold either of my semi-auto's well (means I can have my regular carry pistol on me, and my other in the bag ready for the range.), pistol mag holders come in very usefull also.
I also like the fact that it has the backpack straps - this can be handy depending on what else I have to carry from to/from the car at the range.
The bag doesn't scream 'tacti-cool' , and doesn't look 'military' - in fact it look slike it could be a musical instrument case - not a big deal for some people, but I prefer to not advertise what I am carrying.

So far I have been very pleased with the quality - i.e. no issues ... and when I (stupidly) laid my 'pretty warm' sport on the interior of the bag at the range, the hot barrel did not do anything to the nylon on the interior ... did not melt or scorch it. Certainly something I would never, ever, recommend doing, but I was relieved that my moment of stupidity didn't trash the bag!

Width is a little under 35 inches within the padding.

Height is about 10 inches.

This style rifle case is offered in different sizes. Check it out:

Are there straps inside to secure the weapon

It does, two sets. You could hold two rifles, tactical shotguns, etc.

Overall for 49 buck I really like it AND all the ammo and stuff I got including the bag was only 4.99 shipping with a promo code listed on the site. 2Fall I think it was. 4.99 shipping for anything over $99.

Here is a youtube review (this is NOT me):

Thanks for all the sugestions.
I'm still searching and would be glad to see more cases that you like. Links are also appreciated. Hope to decide today or tomorrow.Finding one that is 3" deep has ruled out many I like.

I really like the Pelican 1700 but no way it's going to fit under the bed.Plus it's very bulky. Who needs wheels?

Thanks JaPes. Just a tad too small for my 20" barrel RR AR and scope, but looks great for my T. I'll check the link for a bit longer. Looks like I'll have to go with a 42".

Shawnfergie,
Thanks for the info.

No problem bud. I've only had it a week, I ordered the black one for $49.99. I got this one compared to the MidwayUSA because the shipping cost. Midway wanted 20 bucks to send a $19 case to me and Cabelas only wanted 4.99 ALONG with a ton of ammo, clothes and extra shooting gear.

After a week I'm happy to say I'm impressed with the case. I can get my Sport and MP15-22 in if I take the glass off which I usually do anyways.

Lots of good cases here.I went with this UTG 38"case I found.
Had excellent reviews,Thanks for the help.

This is the one I have and have no complaints about it.

MidwayUSA Tactical Rifle Case 6 Pockets

Take a look at Cabelas rifle cases. I have the one that has room for two rifles and they have plenty of pockets as well.
