Need help on production date and caliber

I'm new here and first time on a forum, I inherited this pistol and trying to find some information on what model it is and year or range it was made. I was told it's a 38 s&w by my father but he was real sure on that. It was originally my great grandfather's gun and was told he brought it with him from California when he settled here in Mississippi around 1910 or so. Patten dates on top of barrel are may 11 1980 Jan 3 1882 and April 9 1889. Serial number 2432xx. Thanks for any help given.

Your great grandfather's revolver is a .38 Double Action, 3rd Model. They were manufactured between 1884 and 1895. Serial numbered from 119,001 and 322,700 (Neal & Jinks, P 118).
