I recently acquired a very nice looking S&W 2204 .22 cal pistol with a 6" barrel. From the outside the pistol is easily 95% or better however after I got home and cleaned what I thought was a very dirty barrel, it in fact is a damaged barrel. I am not sure what was done to this barrel to ruin it, but my guess would be a very tight fitting steel brush was run through it and the rifling was severely damaged. I am just guessing as to the cause of damage to this barrel because I have never seen a barrel in this condition before. You would never guess this kind of damage was done to the barrel by looking at the outside of the pistol. And no, it doesn't group very well at all.

Does anyone know of a source for a decent 2204 or 2206 6" barrel? I bought this at an area gun show and don't personally know the seller. I have tried to call the telephone number he gave me, but have not received an answer from him. I checked the usual places for a barrel but have not been able to find one.

Thanks for any help on this matter......

Sorry guys, my emotions got the best of me when I wrote this. It's a 422 6.5" barrel pistol. Lets say I was a tad upset.....

Are you sure it is not badly leaded? I saw this before in a 2206 where I thought the barrel was ruined and it turned out to be badly leaded. Does a .22 brush or jag go down the barrel easily or with force?
