i know its mainly about your personal preference, but I would like peoples opinions. I already have a 9mm Sigma, and Im kinda leaning towards the 9mm SD. Is there that much of a difference between the sigma and sd to get another 9mm? My main concern is I dont want to buy another 9mm thats basically another sigma. If thats the case then Ill go with the 40sd. Any help/opinions is greatly appreciated.

I don't own an SD, but the early reports are mostly quite positive. Wonderful ergonomics ("similar" to the sigma), with a lighter trigger, a little easier to shoot.

I think the big decision is whether or not you want another caliber in your collection. Some love the .40, some the 9, and some love both.

.40 cal is more expensive to shoot, just a thought.

Let us know what you decide.

If you reload then you will find that there is such a glut of .40SW brass on the market that you can sometimes find it cheaper than 9mm at this point in time. I won’t comment on the 9mm vs. .40SW war that seems to be undying, but IMHO a slightly bigger heavier bullet may be better than have a couple of smaller bullets extra. I’m slowly but surely making a choice on a new .40SW gun and the SD is in the running. It’s interesting that it comes with a front night sight and has the regular rail unlike the Sigma unique rail. And this one is absolutely personal but I prefer the look of the SD far more than the Sigma.

I'm also interested in the SD9. I like what I'm reading.

I was a little disappointed when Smith dumped the AF and the OD green sigma. The SD comes only in black, which I like. I suppose the night sight is a nice touch too.

The only downside to the SD is you have to give up the ice scrapers.

LOL! j/k

I have a 40 sigma a box of shells are only about 2 or 3 dollars more here than the 9mm..... The 40 has more recoil than the 9 myself I like stuff with a little more kick behind it

I also like the all black, thats why my sigma is AF. Also one reason why I like the SD.

When I went shopping and bought my SD9, I was actually shopping for a Glock 19. At the shop, there was a SD40 on the counter top display, and I picked it up and it just felt so good in my hand. I looked and saw that they had the SD9's under the counter, and had the guy get one out. After I handled it, I just said get the Form 4473, and handed him my CCP and DL. A few minutes later, paid the cash and was down the road with my SD9.

I own a Sd9. They are wonderful little guns. Only about 75 rounds throught mine so far. I like the trigger better than my M&P 40. It is very smooth. My first shot was a dead center hit on a milk jug at 15 feet. I have had not feeding issues whatsoever. I have been very pleased and already looking into getting another for the ole lady

I have not liked the ice scraper bottoms since I bought it. I am wanting to change them with the SD's. They look better.

I have the Sigma 9VE and the SD9. Put about 250 rounds so far in the SD9.

Trigger on the SD9 feels better to me. I also have a Glock 19 with the NY trigger. The SD9 trigger is close to the G19 IMHO.

I like all three...... :)

P.S. Magazines ARE interchangeable between the two. Nice.

Mike

Yeah thats another reason I was considering the 9mm, share magazines and only have to buy 1 type of ammo.
