Hello,

I have a M&P 40c and carry it in a owb Galco Double Time and the holster is great. I am a bigger guy at about 260 and the holster starts becoming a little uncomfortable after awhile. Its not bad but I was wondering if there was anything out there a little more comfortable for the bigger guys out there? Thanks for all of your help. I know that holsters are all personal preference but I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on all kinds of holsters until I find a good one.

Thanks for your time,
Russ

I'm just a tiny bit smaller than you and have a Shield. I have hard time with holsters also but ended up with a beauty yesterday. I got a Ritchie Leather CQ-QR holster and so far so good. 6 hours today and I think it's a keeper.

Close quarter-quick release (cq-qr) - Product Details

I live very close to both Ritchie and Alessi so checking them out is pretty easy. I choose the Ritchie after visiting with the owner, Skip.

I have an order in for Simply Rugged Cuda also. That won't be here for probably 6 weeks.

Good luck!

I just got a Blackhawk leather compact askins for my 45c. A great small holster and very comfortable. I just wore it all day riding my Harley in 90 degree weather and hardly noticed it.

Also looking, and like op do not want too spend hundreds on finding right holster

I am not trying to hijack your thread but I have also been looking for holsters for a MP9c and also RIA 1911a1 GI 9mm. I've been debating on PJ holster tuckable $55
Inside Waistband Tuckable Holsters | PJ Holster LLC
or old faithful quick assemble kit $39
Hip Holster | Gun Hip Holsters | Old Faithful Holsters
For the MP9c
And either one of those or Bianchi Allusion, models 125 consent or 130 classified depending on we're you find them they are running $55-70, for the 1911, was leaning towards the 130 as it also has thumb break for some added retention. Also like the idea it could be IWB or OWB and that it is leather wrapped kydex
Bianchi Gun Holsters - Concealment - Hip Holsters
Again not trying to hijack, but give other suggestions and also see if anyone on the forum has any recommendations for the 3 I have been looking towards as they might work for you as well

i have been carrying my 40c in an old faithful holster for about 6 weeks now. i never know its there...i did the quick assemble kit.

i like it so much i have shown it off to many people...i have even left the gun at home to show off the holster at work where i am not allowed to have a firearm.

You know 260 isn't that big if you are 7' 6" tall... :p

I am 250 and wear 38 pants. I love my Crossbreed Supertuck knockoff for my M&Pc. I wear it at about the 3:30 position all day long. I make mine with horsehide and like them to ride a bit lower than a Bianchi does.

I tried a Blackhawk Askins with my M&Pc and it just wasn't good for me. I have the Askins for my 642 and I absolutely love it.

Every gun can require a slightly different holster to be comfortable.

LOL Lost Lake! I hear you on that one. I just ordered a ol faithful owb. Looked like a really nice holster. Im working on the weight loss and getting more active but good things dont come overnight so I need to get a really nice holster. I hope this one is it. The only bad thing about my double time is the sharp edges on it. But the shipping on the ol faithful is crazy. I wont see it until the beginning of next month!

I'm in the process of ordering a Lobo IWB for my 3913. I don't know how far out he is, but his work is highly regarded and it will be my first hand-crafted IWB.

Some guys are out for 6 months or more... :(

@compactandsafe I make iwb and owb for mp9c and 40c . I make them custom made out of kydex, if interested let me know

When I ordered leather from Milt Sparks for my M&P 45 full size, as a whim I added a Summer Special II. I'd never had one before and had heard a couple of people swear by them. As I thought I occasionally have a use for an IWB (I normally carried full sized guns in belt holsters because previous IWBs were uncomfortable), I ordered one. Now, ask me what holster I'm normally wearing. The SSII is very comfortable, and I have gone over 24 hours without any discomfort caused by it. My .45 is sort of down because the firing pin broke, and I'm back to a Glock 27 in an IWB clip made by a reputable manufacturer. I cannot wait for my M&P's firing pin to come in so I can go back to the Sparks. The down side is that Sparks, as well as many other custom leather makers are backordered, and have been so long before the current fears that are putting everything else on backorder.

Probably, the most comfortable would be a hybrid like the Old Faithful mentioned above. I actually made a hybrid for me and my neighbor for around $50 total. I probably should have bought the kit from Old Faithful and saved the time gathering everything I needed. I am looking at the Bianchi 125 myself for those times when i want something a bit easer on, easier off.

comp tac minotaur for my 40c. Really comfortable iwb. Ordered it and had it in a week:)
