I recently traded into a Model 17-2 which I would rate at 95%-98%. According to the serial #, it was made in 1960. In addition to the gun, there is another cylinder chambered for the .22 rimfire magnum. The cylinder is mounted on its own ejector rod, and has a small letter "M" stamped on the rear between two of the chambers. Both cylinders are perfectly timed. I don't know if the mag cylinder came from the factory or was added by a gunsmith. Also, I don't know if S&W ever offered the dual cylinders from the factory. Both the standard .22 and the mag shoot quite well.
A colleague is trying to talk me into selling it to him, and I have absolutely no idea of its value. Although I'm not overly anxious to sell the gun, I would consider it if the price offered was too good to turn down. What do you think it's worth and/or what would you be willing to pay for one like it?
Thanks in advance for your help.
