Hi - I'm thinking about selling a M-10 and need your help in determining what to ask for it. The gun is a blue 4" thin barrel model 10-9 in approximately +/- 95% condition with a square butt. According to the serial, it was made in 1988. What makes this gun somewhat unique is that the back strap is marked "RHKP" with a 5 digit serial number, and there is a lanyard ring attached to the butt. I don't know if there's an additional "collectors" value beyond that of a regular commercial M-10. Thanks in advance for your insight. I'd post pictures if I knew how.

This is just a guess on my part having looked at a few lately. I would suspect, with box and papers, it should bring around $400 to $450.

You might want to go take a look at recent sales on GunBroker. It will provide better insight than my guestimate.

Most of the stuff I have read about the wonderful Model 10 seem to indicate there were so many produced they are not a true collectible. Most buyers want them for shooting and will settle for a 70 to 80% revolver as long as it is mechanically sound. These can often be scored for around $300.

Kind of what I did, but the buyer will also have to pay shipping and FFL expenses. It all adds up pretty quickly to a $350 revolver. In my opinion, a decent Model 10 is worth it in the long run of owner satisfaction.

To me, you have a $300-350 revolver.

Slightly less desireable than an old M10 in user condition.

Understand that I don't like recent S&W stuff, so the newer - the less interesting to me.

Lots if folks like these, so my opinion just tells you I'm not in your market, unless at a good price (in my opinion).

Best wishes in selling yours.

I'm not in the market for your handgun, so my evaluation is relative to what I'd pay for it.

I too use G.B. as a tool to place an approx. value on guns. You do need to use the numbers that they ACTUALLY SOLD FOR!
RHKP= Royal Hong Kong Police, I do believe. Bob
