I can't find model, caliber or year of manufacture.the bore etc are in good condition and would like to know what ammo is best for some shooting.
Thank you. I attached photo but don't see it in the preview.

It is chambered in .32 S & W, sometimes called the Short to tell it from the more common .32 S & W Long. Ammo is made infrequently but modern production is lightly loaded and safe to fire in these older guns if mechanically sound.

If the grips are original to the gun, they should have the serial number inscribed on the back of the right panel. The " Floral" ( sometimes called "Peacock" or 'Turkey") grips are uncommon, as said above, if original. Repo copies are often seen. The S&W manufacturing logs say the .32 DAs with serial number range 1000 to 1999 were made June 27 & 28, 1880, with black hard rubber grips. No distinction as to whether floral or checkered. Ed

The grip appears to have at least the last two digits of the guns serial #. Can't seem to upload the pic. Something about a security code.

I track the features on the little guns. So far I have found only 8 early nickel guns that wear the floral grips from serial number 133 to 5220. Serial number 5239 wears the later Young style grips with the intertwined S&W and checkering.

The blued guns had the floral grips that were mottled red and black on much higher serial numbers.

Are you Mark who requested the full serial# on my 32?
