I just came from the range today shooting a CA Police Undercover snubbie and was wishing my S&W snubs in .38 spcl were 6 shot as well. Well someone was listening because I came across this S&W 15-3 snubbie for $300 in my local shop and had to get it :D The barrel and cylinder have taken a purplish plum hue to them, but it feels solid throughout.

Can someone give me an approx DOB, serial # is K964XXX

Were these models available in 2" or was this probably a barrel chop? The barrel doesn't appeared tapered like my other Smiths.

It does feel a bit heavier than the Charter Arms, in fact I'd say it almost feels as heavy as a Ruger Speed Six .38spcl I once had. Can't wait to take it to the range!

Your going to love that gun! It looks to be a 1970 if I'm reading the SCSW correctly, and you got it for a good price also.
And the 2" barrel is original

they came that way, ND is right you'll love it, one or two trips to the range and it'll quickly become your favorite

15s were available with 2" and 4" barrels, yours is in factory configuration in that regard. The 2" guns came with Magna grips, as did nearly all 4" 15s, a prior owner installed the target stocks. All 15sthe were square butt. Enjoy, Model 15s are great little guns. _
